Dear Gordon & Family,
My deepest condolences to you on the death of your darling Reta. She was an outstanding lady, friend, nurse, grandma & lover of people. I am so sorry the Lord has chosen to take her to Heaven but I hope we will meet again some day (not too soon, though, thank you).
Sending lots of hugs,

Reta was truly a gem. Her love for her family was admirable. She was stoic and strong. It was a blessing to get to know her these last several months and she will be dearly missed. She will always hold a special place in my heart. Condolences to her family and friends.

My parents, Wes and Doreen Ashwin, my brother Jeff , my husband and I would attend multiple turkey suppers with Gord and Reta , and the occasional ham supper. We would sometimes end up back at their place for more snacks and stories. Reta always had a smile on her face and a story to tell. She was interested in what was going on in your life. Reta was one on the great people that you are glad that you knew.

Reta and Gord were so supportive, welcoming and reliably kind to me when i was the minister at Mount Royal, later Mount Royal-Emmanuel United Church. Reta's bright smile and wickedly funny sense of humour lightened many a challenging situation. She brought her big nurses heart to everything she did, and i am so glad to have known her. My condolences to Gord, Mark, Michelle and spouses, and the grandkids - you will miss her fiercely.

Memories of Rita go back a very long way. She went to high school with my husband, Dan Ash, and later I was fortunate to have spent our training days in residence at St. Paul’s School of Nursing. We have stayed in touch over the years at Nursing School reunions, which Rita was always instrumental in helping organize. Rita was always a very kind and considerate person who will always be remembered by many in the kindest way. My heartfelt condolences to Gordon, it is so hard and sad to lose a spouse of so many years.

Mom made of point of staying in touch with her nursing friends and colleagues, it brought her happiness to keep in touch and know what everyone was up to. The nurses reunions she helped organize and attend were a highlight and brought her great joy. She shared many stories from her nurses reunions with us on a regular basis. Thank you for your kind words.

Aunty Reta was one of my favourite humans! Her passion and kindness showed through her strong bonds with the people in her life. My fondest memory of her is running through the amazing garden that her and uncle Gordon made together. Their tall corn, tricking pond, and stunning sun room made my visits there incredibly memorable. She will be missed, but never forgotten.
With love,
Kiera Davidson <3
