Obituary of Elva Bernice Tole

ELVA BERNICE TOLE (Webber) June 4, 1930 - May 3, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Tuesday, May 3 at the age of 85. Elva was born on June 4, 1930 and entered the world with her twin sister , Ada. She grew up on a farm near Manitou, Manitoba. After attending business college she returned to Manitou and met her husband to be, Mervin Tole. They were married on August 12, 1952. During their life together, they enjoyed staying active by participating in activities which included couples figure skating, polka and square dancing, ice fishing, gardening, and camping with family. She was an active volunteer in every community that they called home. Initially a legal secretary, then a full timeMom raising four children, she later also became a part-time principal’s secretary. Mom had a wonderful, often mischievous sense of humour that remained with her throughout her entire life. We will miss her generosity, unconditional love, warmth and never tiring hospitality. She was a great friend and neighbour. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law. Elva has left to mourn her husband of 63 years, Mervin; her sisters Ada (Basil) Howatt, and Doreen (Jim) Forrest; her children Marilyn (Jim ) Veikle, Murray (Pam) Tole, Carol (Rob) Lyons, and Karen (Chad) Hubich; her eleven grandchildren Conrad (Tori) Veikle, Amber (Matt) Penner, Laura and Janine Veikle, Brad Tole, Karla (Evan) Purves, Daniel (Mary) Lyons, Chelsea (Mike Heck) Lyons, Eric (Cara Bear) Hubich, Brett and Chris Hubich and 5 great-grandchildren plus one arriving any day, Reese, Cohen and Piper Veikle, Maya Penner, and Olivia Purves; plus numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nurses at St. Paul’s Hospital and the Palliative Care Team for their attentive and loving care.
