Raymond Stanley Styranka passed away early October 13, 2023, after a long illness.

He was predeceased by his wife, Anne and son Rick.  Ray is survived by his children, Ray (Sandra), Mark (Carrie), Laureen, Chris (Dawn) and Mathew (Megan); as well as six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Ray was a tall, strapping young man who lived near the nurse’s residences at St. Paul’s hospital, where he met and married Anne in 1953. She fancied him in his new shiny Oldsmobile.

Ray built the family home where they raised their six kids. Throughout his life, Ray was dedicated to his family, friends and working people.  Ray was involved in the community with stints as president of the Home and School Association, Toastmasters, their Condo Strata, and a Cabin Owner’s association. He was heavily involved in the United Transportation Union while working for the Canadian National Railway. As treasurer of the local, he spearheaded changes that helped workers across the country.

He and Anne loved their cabin at Waskesiu and would often take their boat fishing there or in the Hanging Heart Lakes and Crean Lake.

After retirement, Ray and Anne started playing bridge with Ray obtaining a Life Master level, playing out of the Saskatoon Bridge Club. He also devoted himself to caring for Anne. Ray will be loved and missed by us all.

A private service will be held for members of his immediate family.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oliver Lodge through Angels of Care. (1405 Faulkner Crescent, Saskatoon, SK., S7L 3R5)
