Dorothy Stephen
1924-2023

The family of Dorothy (Benny) Louise Stephen (nee Benard) wish to announce her passing on October 8, 2023. Just 10 days shy of her 99th birthday.

Dorothy grew up in Liberty, Saskatchewan where she began teaching in 1942. She taught at various schools in rural Saskatchewan and would often reflect on her colleagues, students, and the families with whom she boarded.
As a young girl Dorothy loved to dance and it was at a dance in Moosomin where she met Fred Stephen. They married in 1950 and lived in several communities before settling in Regina in 1966.

Dorothy was quite a gifted artist enjoying drawing, painting, needle work and cross stitching to name a few. She took great pride in her work and gladly shared it as gifts to family and friends.
Another of her favourite pastimes was cribbage. She always enjoyed a good game with whoever would dare to take her on.

Dorothy was predeceased by infant daughter, Laurie, in 1951; husband, Fred, in 1996; and son, Stewart, in 2015. She is survived by daughter, Patti; sons, Scott (Jody), and Glenn (Kathleen); granddaughters, Lee (Keith) and Terri; and great-grandsons, Kian and Grayson.

As per Dorothy’s wishes no funeral service will be held. Her family would like to thank the staff at Samaritan Place, St. Paul’s Palliative Care and Hospice at Glengarda for the excellent care they gave our mother in her last days.
