Obituary of Leona Johanna Heilman

It is with profound sadness Leona Heilman surrounded by her family, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Royal University Hospital at the age of 85.
She is survived by her husband Joe of 63 years, son Brian (Ramona), Michael and James; son-in-law Colin Labrecque, Ashley (Bob), Allison (Dylan) and Morgan (Mackenzie). Her brother Martin (Yvonne), sisters Betty (Tony) and Lori (Kent), sisters-in-law Linda, Fran (Alfred), Priscilla and Joyce, and brothers-in-law Jerome, Cliff and Clarence. She was very close to her brothers and sisters and adored her grandchildren.
Leona was predeceased by her daughter Corinne, parents Louis and Elizabeth Bley, numerous brothers, sisters, brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
She was born on the family farm near Annahiem on December 24, 1937. She took her schooling at Harvest home. She moved to Moose Jaw, working at St. Anthony’s home where she met her husband Joe. They married July 6, 1960.
Leona enjoyed gardening, spending countless hours outside, crotcheting, cooking and travelling the world with Joe on business. She loved having family over for dinner, Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving.
Thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at Royal University Hospital Emergency and 6200 for the tremendous care they provided for Leona.
The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Church, Wednesday, October 4, at 10:30 a.m. At a later date, interment to follow at St. John’s Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Saskatchewan Lung Association.
