Obituary of Helen Blushke
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Blushke on September 20, 2023. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Helen is survived by her husband, Bob; children, Samantha (Christopher) and Michael; parents, Phil and Anne Lai; father-in-law, Don (Della); mother-in-law, Dixie (Lorne); brother-in-law, Jeff (Angela); sister-in-law, Wendy; sisters, Paulina (Louis), Jeanette (Steve), and Phyllis (Dean); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Helen was born May 20, 1965 in Wynyard, Saskatchewan. She then moved to Saskatoon in 1972 with her family at age 7 and attended North Park School and Bishop Pocock, graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1983 and later attended Saskatoon Business College until 1984. Helen made many places her home but ultimately decided that Saskatoon was where she wanted to be. She worked at TCU Financial for 27 years, but her favorite job was being a mom.
In 1984, she met the love of her life, Bob, and they later married in 1991. They welcomed their daughter, Samantha, February 2, 1994; and their son, Michael, July 17, 2003. Their fondest memories were always made while travelling or screaming at the TV during video game matches.
Helen was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others. She was the rock in her family and cared for both her children in sickness and in health, and was a doting daughter to her elderly parents. Helen was selfless and was devoted to taking care of those around her.
She had an infectious and bubbly personality, whose laughter could fill an entire house. For those who were lucky enough to know Helen, know that she was the life of every party. She was always the first and last on the dance floor and the loudest in the room.
She touched many peoples' lives and her light will continue to shine through the people she made an impact on. Helen will be deeply loved, missed, and remembered.
A Celebration of Helen’s Life will be held at Saskatoon Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
