Obituary of Graham Glenn Cowles

June 24, 1938 – Sept 7, 2023

Graham passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by his Family after a short battle with cancer.

Born in Canwood, he grew up in Holbein, Winnipeg and Swift Current, where he completed high school.

Graham was an incredibly hard worker and his work career started in high school where he pumped gas and sold parts at a local car dealership.  From there, he worked for CP Rail as a mail car attendant, welded for Trans Canada Pipeline and worked in the Oil Fields in Estevan.  He moved to Saskatoon in the early 60’s where he worked for the Chemical Plant and at the same time helped Al Anderson launch his sporting goods store.  Graham started, owned and operated Bridge City Yamaha and Harley Davidson for 25 years.

After Bridge City closed, Graham embarked on a new career in commercial real estate with Colliers McClocklin that spanned over the next 34 years. Throughout his life, he enjoyed curling, playing hockey and baseball, downhill and water skiing, hang gliding, racing snowmobiles and motorcycles, skin diving, trap shooting, hunting and fishing.  Graham’s favorite place was the cabin situated on an island at LaRonge where he enjoyed every summer with family and friends.

Graham was never shy to speak his mind and offered advice to friends, clients and family that turned out to be not too far off the mark.  One of his famous one-liners was “two ears and one mouth, listen twice as much as you speak.”  He was loyal, compassionate and had a good sense of humor.  Graham was insightful and had a zest for life that led him on many adventures.

Graham was predeceased by his parents, Glenn and Mae (Watt) Cowles, his sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Ted Coleman and brother-in-law Jim Bull.  He will be deeply loved and missed by his wife of nearly 47 years, Wendi, sons Greg (Pam); Lee and grandson Raylan; Chad (Jamie) and grandson Lincoln and granddaughter Quinn.  Also left to cherish his memory are his nephews; Ron, Glenn (Lyndy), Randy (Mary), Gord, Darcy (Susan) Coleman and niece, Debbie (Stan) Peterson; his brother and sister-in-law Terry Hinz and Susan Mak, sister and brother-in-law Debbie (Duke) Barker.

Many years ago, Graham started calling us TEAM COWLES and although he has left us, he will still lead the Team with his Spirit.  We will profoundly miss him!

The family would like to sincerely thank the home care nurses and the palliative home care nurses, especially Terese.  The compassion and care was outstanding!  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to Kinsmen TeleMiracle, 2217C Hanselman Court, Saskatoon S7K 6L8 or a charity of one’s choice.  Condolences may be left at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com.
