Mom was born in Esterhazy, SK. to hardworking Hungarian parents who immigrated to Canada. Farm life was difficult and demanding and required that she give up her education to help on the farm and help with her younger siblings. She moved to Regina as a young woman, meeting the love of her life, Jimmy. They soon married, began raising a family and moved to Saskatoon in 1956. Marie was a busy stay at home mom happily maintaining a spotless home, gardening, cooking and baking. Her neighborhood ladies became close friends and they regularly convened at one of their homes to play bridge and scrabble. Family vacations were spent camping and visiting relatives. A memorable trip for Mom and Dad was a holiday to England to visit Jimmy’s place of birth. Mom lived at Columbian Manor for two years after moving out of the house she had lived in for 56 years. She formed friendships there with both residents and staff. Her last two years were spent at St. Ann’s Nursing Home. We are grateful for the caring attention given to Mom during her time there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
