I just wish to share my condolences to the Walker family. I never knew Doreen but I have lasting memories of Jill’s admiration for her mother(dad too!). Jill was a U of S student when I first new her and I was so impressed with this young woman’s admiration for her parents. This speaks loads of Doreen’s personality.
Here’s wishing your family the best in your healing journey.

Judy, Jane, Jill, and Keith (and growing families), Scott and I are so sorry to hear of Aunt Doreen’s passing. She and Uncle Phil were such a stable presence in my life and the lives of the whole Burke family. My enduring image of her is, of course, at Emma Lake, greeting me with a big smile and that mischievous sparkle in her eyes. I can still hear her voice and her laugh. Despite the fact that she was a mother, aunt, sister, and grandmother, she still had room in her heart for all the beach kids, always making us feel welcome at the cabin and chatting with us around the bonfire. Reading her obituary, I can see that she had an even fuller life than I imagined —how did I not know she played the violin and saxophone? Thinking of you all with love.

Saddened to know our "Aunt" Doreen has passed away.
She was an integral part of our Emma Lake childhood summers (and beyond) dating back to the 1960s.
I especially remember yummy treats and all her many crafts.
All the lake kids, young and old, felt so very loved by her...what more could we ask for?
Her amazing legacy continues in her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and those yet to come.
Wonderful memories of a wonderful aunt to all of us, whether related (a mere technicality!) or not.
Condolences to the entire Walker clan.

To the all the Walker families and their extended families our sincere condolences from Sheila Early( Surrey), Lisa and Keira Early/Pat Luce(Calgary), Lindy and Scott McDowall (Langley) and Len Early( Toronto) I first met your Mom and Dad at Emma Lake with Peter in 1965 as a new bride and felt welcomed to this new place called Emma Lake.
Your Mom always had a smile and a special twinkle in her eye. Over the years, she has provided every one of us with knitted and sewn goodies, I am sure she is already knitting again with your Dad. Their legacies will live on in all our memories!.

Summers at Emma Lake and the Walker clan are all part and parcel of happy memories for as far back as i can remember, with Doreen like a second mother during all those wonderful times. Whether running a big taffy pull for all the beach kids, or scolding us for not turning the canoe over when we hurried back to shore in a rainstorm, or just patiently putting up with us lounging in her cabin on rainy (or sunny !) days, she was a wonderful presence in my life over all those years. A great lady, funny and warm and generous, a wonderful example of a life well-lived.

To all the Walker family...
Your mom was one of the most gracious people I've ever met...matched only by your dad! What a legacy the Walker generations have continued for many years. Garry and I send our condolences and wish you peace and comfort in the days ahead. I'm sure she and Phil will be watching over your piece of paradise for many more generations. Hugs to all.
