Howard Walter Wagner, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family July 29, 2023 at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK.
Howard was born July 17, 1936 to Henry and Eva Wagner and was raised on his parent’s family farm near Hepburn, SK. Though Howard attended Lakeburg School through grade 8, academics was not his calling. Howard loved working with his hands and mastered many related skills throughout his life.
Howard met Frieda Herman in 1957 and they were married June 20, 1958 in Spiritwood, SK. They started their married lives on the Wagner family farm and had four (4) children between 1960 through 1967. In 1969 they sold the farm at Hepburn and moved to Saskatoon. Three (3) short years later, after missing farm life, Howard and Frieda bought a farm south of Bounty and moved their young family in December 1971. They put down roots in the Conquest/Outlook communities and farmed there for 27 years. In 1994 Howard, his sons, and other partners established Prairie Pulse Inc.; a company involved with the export of lentils and peas. Howard led all construction and participated directly in all millwright and repair projects. In August 2020 Howard officially retired at the age of 84.
Howard loved sports, camping, fishing, woodwork, travelling and spending time with family and friends. Though he was always busy with work, he always made time for his family.
Howard is survived by his loving wife Frieda of 65 years, eldest son Earl (Karen) Wagner, Allan (Renee) Wagner, Elaine (Garth) Walliser, and their youngest daughter Gail (Mark) Mack. Howard will also be fondly remembered by his 16 grand children, 21 great grand children, extended family, and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Eva Wagner, sisters Annie (Philip) Geransky, Edna (Edgar) Knippel, and Alice (Leslie) Frick.
