Bonnie Kuzma

Obituary of Bonnie Jean Isabel Kuzma

It is with sadness in our hearts that the family of Bonnie Jean Isabel Kuzma (nee: Bull) announce her passing on July 13, 2023 at the age of 90 with her family by her side.

Bonnie was born in Tisdale on March 5, 1933 to her parents Harry and Jean Bull. She was their first child before they welcomed her younger brother, Leslie. Bonnie and her family resided in Hudson Bay, SK before moving to Saskatoon. During her early years, Bonnie attended school at Haultain School as well as Nutana Collegiate. After graduation, Bonnie completed her nursing degree and worked as a Registered Nurse for close to 40 years at both the University Hospital and City Hospital in Saskatoon.

Bonnie met the love of her life, Frank, in Saskatoon and they were married on May 18, 1957. He would go on to play in the International Hockey League which had them move to the United States. Together, they resided in both Indianapolis and Washington for hockey while Bonnie continued to work as a nurse. They returned to Saskatoon where they would raise their two daughters, Tammie and Lori. Bonnie would go on to call Saskatoon her home until 2017, when she made the decision to move to Prince Albert to be closer to her daughters.

Bonnie enjoyed many treasures in her life. She spent many hours in her yard tending to her flowers and garden or sharing coffee on her back patio. Bonnie had a great sense of fashion. She was always the best dressed at every event and looked forward to having her hair done every Friday at 1:00. She was an avid sports fan and found joy watching her husband, daughters and grandchildren play sports. You could always count on her to be playing the baseball or hockey game on the television when visiting. Bonnie valued her friendships and had a great group of friends that she and Frank walked with at the Field House three days a week before heading to McDonalds for coffee together. This tradition continued on after Frank’s passing as it was a cherished time for her. Bonnie also loved to travel. She looked forward to trips with family and friends whether it be to worldly destinations, sporting events with her daughters or grandchildren or the beach at Jackfish Lake.

Above all, Bonnie loved her grandchildren. There was seldom an evening or weekend where Bonnie couldn’t be found cheering her grandchildren on at the hockey rink, the basketball or the volleyball court. She was truly her grandchildren’s biggest fan. Bonnie embraced her family, especially her grandchildren and was always happy to spoil them with love (or Swedish berries or Hawkins cheezies). She will always hold a special place in each of our lives and the memories we created together will forever be held dear.

Bonnie was preceded by her parents Jean and Harry Bull, her brother Leslie Bull, her great-granddaughter Peyton Mitchell, her 17 brother and sister-in-laws, and her husband, Frank Kuzma.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters; Tammie (Perry Scott) Kuzma, Lori (Randy Bennett) Boucher; her grandchildren Tyler (Cara) Kuzma, Devon (Robert Gudjonson) Boucher, Rebecca (Josh Watt) Kuzma, Ashley Kuzma, Jaselyn (Scott) Mitchell; her great grandchildren Bohden and Bennett Kuzma, Brela Mitchell and one little peanut on the way; her sister-in-law Patricia Bull as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 21, 2023 1:00pm at the Saskatoon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bonnie’s name to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Cancer Society.
