Obituary of Denise Ann Tourand
Denise Ann (Miller) Tourand passed away peacefully on July 8, 2023 at the age of 64. Denise was born on October 29, 1958 in Kyle, SK, eldest daughter to Jack and Marie Miller. Her siblings were Shane (Janice) Miller and Terri (Blair) Foster.
Denise began her life in Kyle and moved with her family to White Bear when she was 3, where she enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends at a young age. She attended White Bear School for her elementary grades and Kyle Composite High School for grade 7 to 12. Some of the activities Denise enjoyed through school included Messengers, Explorers, CGIT, figure skating, soft ball, curling and playing piano. Time spent with her extended family, whether it was camping or family holidays, playing cards or games, were some of her favourite activities as a girl. In her high school years, she developed deep friendships with many classmates. These friendships would last her lifetime.
After graduating high school, Denise moved to Saskatoon to attend Saskatoon Business College. While working in Saskatoon, she met Dennis Tourand and they were married on July 2, 1983. They lived in Saskatoon and raised their beautiful children Adam, Brett and Jamie and Dennis’ sons Craig and Christopher. Denise’s family were the center of her world. She was a loving wife and mother. When the children were young, Denise would be found driving the children to their activities and encouraging them in all aspects of their life. When she and Dennis were blessed with grandchildren, Denise embraced her role as Grandma. All her grandchildren had a warm hug and good times when they came to Papa and Grandma’s house.
In her later years, Denise was able to spend more time cheering on her favorite team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders!! Go Riders! She also served on the church board at Mayfair United Church, as well as performed many volunteer duties at the church. In her spare time, Denise enjoyed gardening and cooking. Denise and Dennis worked many hours in their yard getting it “just so.” Gerber daisies were her favourite flower. Denise was also a wonderful cook and enjoyed having family gathering to share her culinary gifts.
Denise will be truly missed by all who knew her. Denise is survived by her husband, Dennis; children Adam (Bobbie), Brett (Stephanie) and Jamie; step-son Craig; grandchildren Drew, Bailey, Mackenzie, Presley, Sophia and Joseph; siblings Shane (Janice) and Terri (Blair); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as all who held her dear. Denise was predeceased by her parents, grand-parents, several aunts and uncles, and sadly her step-son Christopher Tourand.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 11:00 am at Mayfair United Church, followed by a lunch in the church hall for fellowship and remembrance to honour Denise. A private interment service will follow at Saint John’s Columbarium for the immediate family.
