Obituary of Glenn Milton Wood
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Glenn Wood, at Saskatoon, SK on July 5, 2023 at the age of 71.
Glenn was born on March 5, 1952, in Penticton BC, the eldest child of Glenn E. and Daisy Wood. He grew up in Penticton and Kelowna. He attended school in both Penticton and Kelowna. As a young adult he took the heavy-duty equipment operator program in Nanaimo, BC.
Growing up Glenn enjoyed spending time with his family and friends in the Okanagan, especially during the summer. His days were spent on the beach at Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake. As a teenager his love of old cars began. He was so proud of the 1956 Pontiac that he restored when he was a young adult. He also loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He loved his Harley-Davidson and enjoyed riding on the scenic highways around the Okanagan. Glenn worked for the City of Penticton and Okanagan Manufacturers in BC.
Glenn met his wife, Denise, in 1989 and they were married on July 30, 1990 in Reno, Nevada, USA. They honeymooned in Reno and Lake Tahoe, and toured around Virginia City and Carson City. Glenn and his family moved to Saskatoon in December, 1991. He started working for Dairy Producers in 1992, which became Saputo, and he worked there the rest of his career. This was a job he really enjoyed. He made many friends there over the years. He was a real family man and enjoyed family gatherings and outings.
To escape the cold Saskatchewan winters Glenn and the family would travel south. They travelled to Hawaii, California, and Mexico many times. Glenn also made several trips back to Penticton and Kelowna, winter and summer, to visit family and friends. Penticton always held a special place in his heart and he referred to it as "God's country."
Glenn was an avid sports fan, especially hockey and football, and always cheered for his favorite teams, the Vancouver Canucks and BC Lions. Glenn was a real "sports dad" and when his children started playing sports he would attend practices, games and tournaments for them, always supporting them and cheering them on. When Shane started playing hockey Glenn was the best "hockey dad", always helping with the penalty box, and driving Shane and various teammates to the rinks.
Glenn was a Legion member in Penticton and Saskatoon, He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Saskatoon and Concordia Lutheran Church in Penticton He was a board member and volunteer with Hemophilia Saskatchewan. He volunteered at his children's schools, with the community association, and political committees.
