Obituary of Vicki Ann Jellicoe
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Vicki Ann Jellicoe, 73, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on June 21, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on June 18, 1950, in Melfort, Saskatchewan, Mom spent her formative years in the Beatty, Ethelton, and Melfort areas. Vicki dedicated 35 years to SaskPower/SaskEnergy, excelling in her career and holding positions in Nipawin, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and Tisdale. She retired in Saskatoon to be close to her daughter, Kimberly Braithwaite, son-in-law Colin Braithwaite, and cherished granddaughters, Priya and India.
Vicki selflessly dedicated her time and energy to her family, ensuring their well-being and happiness. Her love for her daughter, Kimberly, knew no bounds, and many have described Kimberly as the "light of her life." Vicki was an exceptional and devoted mother, going above and beyond for her loved ones.
Mom was a dedicated “figure skating mom”, and that continued with her granddaughters as she was a constant fixture at the girls’ figure skating competitions, volleyball tournaments, and softball games. She was a constant presence in our lives, serving as a reliable carpooler, hosting cherished "sleepovers at grandma's," and being the unwavering pillar of support for our family.
During her retirement, Vicki found joy in traveling to Mexico with her partner Calvin and close family. Her trips to Hawaii with Terry, Cheryl, Gayle, Howie, Bob, and Lynda were their special paradise. The “Three Amigos”, Vicki, Lynda, and Linda were frequently seen in curling rinks across the province cheering on their favourite teams. She took great pride in maintaining her home, constantly renovating, updating, and decorating it to perfection. When she wasn’t at home, she enjoyed her time at Candle Lake and Wakaw Lake. Special memories of July 1st celebrations, which expanded our family to include the other Grandma and Grandpa, John, and Noreen Braithwaite, where Mom and Noreen were a fierce team to beat. From day one, Mom loved cooking for her “#1 Son-in-Law” Colin, where you could hear their laughter and banter coming from the kitchen. Vicki was an exceptional cook, delighting her loved ones with exquisite meals enjoyed in the company of wine and camaraderie.
Mom was predeceased by her father, Ron, and her mother, Irene. She is survived by her daughter Kimberly, son-in-law Colin, granddaughters Priya and India, partner Calvin, brother Terry (Cheryl), sister Gayle (Howie), and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Thank you to all the physicians, nurses, and care aides at the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic, Hospice at Glengarda, and Samaritan Place for your exceptional support throughout Mom’s journey. As well as a special thank you to Dr. Johann Kriegler for his compassionate and generous care over the years.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Melfort United Church with interment at the Beatty Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Saskatoon Funeral Home and the Melfort Funeral Home.
Memorial Donations can be made to the “Patient Care & Comfort Fund” at the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan.
