It is with unbearable sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Sheldon Bergstrom on June 18, 2023. A beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, Sheldon impacted the lives of all who knew him with a smile, a hug, and an unmatched voice.
Sheldon was born on November 22, 1971, in Prince Albert, SK, to Michael and Beatrice Bergstrom. The “baby” of the family, Sheldon was blessed to have a wonderful relationship with his siblings, Beverly, Dianna, Debra, and Darrin, and adored and was adored by his many nieces and nephews and their children. He cherished those relationships and only wished he could have been present for more significant moments in each of their lives.
Sheldon had many loves in his life – music, theatre, sports, dogs, but none were as great as his love for his wife, best friend, and one true love, Dawn. From the moment they met almost 28 years ago, they were connected and their nearly 22 years of marriage could not begin to encompass the depth of love they felt for each other. He was deeply loved by his in-laws and loved them immensely in return.
The theatre and film community across Canada is mourning this loss deeply as Sheldon was loved everywhere he worked. Over the years he was fortunate enough to perform in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Nova Scotia, as well as overseas in Bosnia, Croatia, and Afghanistan. He especially loved the young actors he had the chance to work with over the years and loved to see their successes more than he wished them for himself. He will be remembered for his warm smile, contagious laugh, quick wit, wonderful hugs, and a singing voice that could change the world.
Sheldon was pre-deceased by his parents Michael and Beatrice Bergstrom, father-in-law and mother-in-law Dennis and Evelyn Schlosser, and brothers-in-law Kevin Bradley and Stephen Elliott. He is survived by his wife, Dawn, sisters Beverly Bradley, Dianna Elliott, and Debra Bergstrom, brother Darrin (Glenda) Bergstrom, brothers-in law Blair (Michelle) Schlosser and Todd (Lynn) Schlosser, great-aunt Chris Rippin, aunts Florence Halvorson, Marg Wells, Evelyn (Dave) Walker, uncle Ross (Jeanne) Leffler, and countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
Sheldon’s time with us was far too short and nothing will ever fill the void left by this loss. The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon for their care and compassion, and the many family and friends who kept Sheldon utmost in their thoughts and prayers during this time. If you would like to contribute a gift in Sheldon’s name, a GoFundMe legacy fund has been established to assist the family in this difficult time and for a future scholarship.
A Celebration of Sheldon's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Prairieland Park, Hall B (503 Ruth St W), in Saskatoon, SK.
