Obituary of Carol Anne Cowan
Carol Anne Cowan (Bovill), 81 year of age, of Harris, Saskatchewan, passed away on June 9, 2023 in the Heritage Manor, Kindersley, SK.
Carol was born on the homestead in Big River, SK to Leslie and Gladys Bovill on December 16, 1942. She went to high school in Big River but quit early to go to work, she upgraded her GED later in life and went on to earn a diploma in Administrative Office Secretary and a certificate in Business Management in 1993. She worked at the University Hospital (Saskatoon, SK) in the laundry department from 1964 to 1972, then started a home daycare until 1977, she then became the Caretaker at Grace Westminster United Church (Saskatoon, SK) until 1990, she worked a short time at the Nor'Wester Motor Inn as a front desk clerk (Meadow Lake, SK) and then became a nomad enjoying life travelling between Wasa, BC; Mildred, SK and Harris, SK, and finally settling at Harris, SK where she lived in her own home with her gardens and cats until 2019.
During her life she enjoyed bowling, dancing, visiting with friends, the church and her amazing garden, canning, birds and her cats (even the neighborhood ones too). She was involved in the United church, scouts, bowling, community in blooms, and extensively in her son's soccer and bowling.
Carol was married to Denis Cowan from 1961 to 1987, and she also had some amazing life partners along the way that helped her to enjoy her life to the fullest
Carol is survived by her son Randy Cowan of Harris, SK. her brother Richard Bovill, and her sisters Pat Boulet and Diana Haines. She is preceded in death by her father Leslie Bovill, her mother Gladys Bovill (Evans), her brothers Reg Bovill, Doug Bovill, Bob Bovill, Rodney Jamison, her sister Barbara Simons, and a vast amount of nieces and nephews which to she was known as "Auntie Carol".
Memorial donations may be made to Grace Westminster United Church, 505 10th St. E, Saskatoon, SK. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Grace Westminster United Church and the Village of Harris for making a home for Carol, and a special thanks to all who are helping to make Carol’s celebration very meaningful.
The Memorial Service and celebration lunch will be held at Grace Westminster United Church, 505 10th St. E, Saskatoon, SK. on June 17th, 2023 at 1:00 pm with Reverend Brenda Curtis of Grace Westminster United Church officiating. Her ashes will be put in her favorite and spiritual spot, her garden. Arrangements have been entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home 306-244-5577.
Her spirit lives on to take care of all the lost kitties, birds and plants that are struggling!
