Obituary of Paul Burletoff
Paul Burletoff passed away peacefully and suddenly on May 29, 2023.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Sophie of 69 years; seven children, Bob & Bev, Judy, Mary & George, Sharon & Adrian, Patsy & Harold, Paulette & Albert and Peter & Lisa; eleven grandchildren, Blake & Tara, Brooke & Lee, Jackie & Kelly, Jennifer & Ryan, Trent & Jacey, Rylee, Savanna & Joe, Dylan, Delaney & Jadon, Tanner & Bailey and Carter; eight great grandchildren, Bently, Bohdan, Berkly, Annalise, Connor, Madison, Brielle and Hunter.
Paul was born on November 9, 1931 in the Great Deer District. He grew up in the Blaine Lake District and took his schooling at Merry Home School. After school he farmed with his parents until he married Sophie on August 8, 1953. They continued to farm and also had a country store (Paul’s General Store) in the Blaine Lake District. In 1963, they moved to the Eldersley District where they farmed until 1968 at which time they moved to Saskatoon where dad had various jobs and entrepreneur adventures. The highlight of his entrepreneurship was owning Diamond Grocery & Confectionery which was the ice cream hotspot in Saskatoon. In 1978, they moved to their acreage in the Warman area where they enjoyed 37 wonderful years. In 2015, they downsized and moved to a condo in Martensville. In 2021, they moved to a senior retirement home in Saskatoon where they resided until dad’s passing.
Dad and mom enjoyed travelling, playing cards and visiting with family and friends.
A Graveside Service will be held at Bethel Mennonite Cemetery in the Great Deer District at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Lunch to follow at the Burletoff farm.
