Obituary of Scott Brown

On Saturday, May 27, 2023, Scott Brown passed away peacefully in hospital surrounded by his family.

Scott is survived by his wife, Ruby; children, Gage (Rae-ann), Shayla (Kyle), Rheannon and Kordell (TiaRae); grandchildren, Jaxon, Bentley, Nixon, Chevy and Briella; parents, Grace and Colin; and siblings, Mike (Shelley), Kris (Murray), Cheryl (Ron) and Vicki (Chuck).

He was predeceased by his brother Doug.

Scott was born on March 20, 1962 in Moose Jaw, SK. He began roofing with his older brothers while attending high school and continued this career until a medical condition led to an early retirement. During his working career, he took one year off to study small motor mechanics but did not seek employment in this field. In 1988, Scott and Ruby purchased a farm near Vibank and got married the following year on February 18. Later that fall they started their family and made the farm a true home.

When his children were younger, Scott was involved with the Vibank School board and curling board. He also coached their hockey and baseball teams for a few years.

In high school, Scott participated in football, golf and slow-pitch ball. Scott took great pleasure in hunting, fishing, quadding and watching sports on TV, especially the Philadelphia Flyers. He loved spending time at the cabin with family and friends as well as gatherings at the family farm. He loved barbequing and making goulash for the children when they were little. He enjoyed putzing with his tractor, shooting gophers, having bonfires and tinkering in his garage.

Friends and family, please join us for Scott's Celebration of Life which will be held on June 10, 2023 at 1:30pm in the Vibank Co-operative Community Centre (Rink) with a luncheon to follow. Scott had specific wishes for the private disbursement of his ashes; therefore, there will be no interment following the service. In honour of Scott's passion for hunting, we welcome attendees to wear camo and/or jeans to the celebration.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
