Obituary of Betty Lorraine Wheatley
Betty passed away peacefully in Saskatoon Wednesday, May 17, 2023. She was born April 14, 1932 in Plenty, SK. In 1950, Betty moved to Saskatoon, went to the Technical Collegiate and later worked in various offices.
She met her husband Jim while working as an illustrator at the Saskatoon Star Phoenix. They married in 1953 and had 3 children.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, baking, card games, watching sports on TV, travelling and spending time with family and friends at the cabin. She had a great sense of humour and loved to laugh.
She volunteered with the Royal University Auxiliary and worked in the gift shop for 30 years. Betty was a long time Rider fan and loved her animals.
She is survived by her children Lorrie (Mike) and their children Darryl, Allan, and Michelle (Nathan), Bill (Shelly) and Julie (Rick). She also adored her great-grandson Walker.
Betty was predeceased by her parents Adolph and Marie (nee Anderson) Olson, husband Jim in 2007, brother Allan, sisters Marvis and Lillian and brothers-in-law Hugh and Gordon.
A tremendous thank you to Dorothy and Shantelle for the excellent care Mom had at the Gerbrandt Care Home.
A small private service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Saskatoon SPCA.
