Tom was one of my favourite people in the Horticulture Department when I got my Hort degree in the early/mid '90's. He was totally a mentor for me; he was so passionate about the industry - it was awesome. When we were out at his farm one day, I think it was one of the end of the year Hort parties, he showed my daughter his awesome wild turkeys - she has never forgot that experience either. I remember working with him a bit on his organics recycle program with the City of Saskatoon. He was just one of those people that you never forget - he lives forever in my heart.

I have many fond memories of Tom from my years as a Horticulture student and summers working on the Hort Crew in the 80’s. He was always a great help to those of us working at the Garden Line, especially for those clients who insisted on speaking with a man! He loved to make people laugh and was always ready for a game of Kaiser!

As a former student and colleague in the Department of Plant Sciences I gained a profound fondness for Tom, and was very saddened to hear of his passing.
He had so many colourful expressions, he could keep me entertained ad inifinitum.
His contributions to horticulture in Saskatchewan were worthy of significant recognition.
I wish to extend my condolences to his family and friends.

Our farms were a half mile away from each other so the Grahams and the Wards spent many times together, playing at one yard or the other during summer holidays, wading and rafting on our slough and when we were older and Tom could get his Dad's truck we were away to Pike Lake for an evening swim after a hot day working helping on the farm. Tom loved his chickens and we always had to stop by his Mom's chicken house to have a look at the flock. School days at Minnesota school and the good times in 4-H.
A few years ago he phoned one summer day to see if we wanted to come and pick apples from his apple trees. Hans and I went with our eight foot ladder and in no time at all Tom was up that ladder to the top of one of the trees picking the best ones up there. "Now I'm happy" he called down to us. We are going to miss him and I hope he knows that his little flock of nine hens and one rooster are happy in our chicken house.....Gwenda.
Our condolences to Tom's family....Hans, Gwenda and Christine Vinding.

We were very sorry to learn that Tom Ward has passed away. Tom and I were old friends from the early 1950’s as members of the Vanscoy 4H Beef Club until most recently at the University of Sask. We were both National 4H Awardees and traveled together to Ottawa to receive our awards when we met with prime minister John Defienbaker. We also shared many good times together growing up on neighboring farms near Vanscoy. My sincerest condolences to Tom’s family.

Adrienne and family; Clark and family. We are very sorry to hear about your Dad's death.
I worked with Tom for many years at the Department of Horticulture at the U of S. When I left Horticulture the party was held at the farm. A good time was had by all. And in subsequent years we ordered beef from him.
Yes, the coffee pot was always on and I remember that no one went hungry if they knew Tom.
A real Horticulturist - sending virtual flowers to all of you.
