My favourite Christmases were spent at Uncle Al and Auntie Elaine’s house. Our older cousins were teenagers and we were allowed to play with all their toys. They weren’t interested anymore. Elaine had the table set with Christmas Crackers and we wore paper crowns. Elaine made tomato aspic and she praised me for being a child and trying it out. It made me feel sophisticated. I looked up to Heidi and wanted to try escargot on another occasion at a restaurant because that’s what she was having. I remember a bridal shower a where all my aunties were there from my mom’s side. We all looked up auntie Elaine. They made the most of their visit with her quizzing her for details on how to raise a family and work full time. She told us all about her crock pot. I got one when I was a student. It was always so fun running into Al and Elaine by accident out shopping or at an event. I’m so happy they came to my wedding.
