Words continue to fail me in attempting to properly pay tribute to “my” precious Mrs. Wright. From the time I was a toddler until today, Mr. and Mrs. Wright were like guardian angels. You see, I lived on Lake Cres., our families were kind of interchangeable, our dads never knowing who might be sitting at the dinner or breakfast table on any given day! Thank you, Nance, Lorne, Don and Jack for sharing your parents with us, as our lives were shaped, for the better, for the experience. The unconditional love, support, kindness and joy I was so lucky to be given will live in my heart forever. The loss seems immeasurable, but so is the love that will live on in us all.

My dearest Auntie. I love you so much. You are the light in my days. I will miss you forever. My thoughts are with your wonderful family who loved and cherished you so much. They believe that they were lucky to have you as their mom, but you were also lucky to have such wonderful children who brought you the much loved grandkids and great grandkids. I pray that you are at peace now. I sure miss hearing your voice each day. Thank you for being my aunt and my friend. Love you so very much, Michelle

My deepest sympathies for the loss of such a beautiful soul. Mom and Dad considered Cliff and Betty great friends. I think there might have been a few hand knit sweaters for grandchildren involved too. Our memories of mothers like ours are truly precious treasures. We were blessed.

I wish to convey my deep sympathies to all the Wright family members, especially my dear friend, Lorne. I cannot begin to list all my warm memories of the Wright family and their home. I lived next door to the Wrights for many years, and they played an important role in my life. Mrs. Wright's warm smile, soft voice, and pleasant way touched me most deeply. I think she was the first person to display God's grace to me. It seemed clear that I could do nothing to make her love me more, and there was nothing I could do to make her love me less. I didn't need to perform, and I could not fail. I was--accepted. This was the type of person she was to me and to us all. Mrs. Wright offered this kindness to her children, their friends, and everyone else she locked eyes with. With Betty, you were safe, and she wanted you to know that. She was brilliant, warm, funny, and kind. I count it an honour to have known her and learned so much from her. "Thank you, Mrs. Wright. You were truly one of a kind."

Hey Wright Family,
I often hear ...there are no words... In Betty's life there are too many to describe the extraordinary person she was to everyone.
She was lifelong friends with my parents Bob & Joyce and treated us all like family.
My girls and I enjoyed many visits with Betty. Each one of them we enjoyed the simple things in life. Driving around Saskatoon exploring, little picnics, cool drinks in the summertime, good hot coffee or hot chocolate with squares or desserts a must in the wintertime! (Well really anytime, we all shared a sweet tooth.)
Betty glowed talking about her families latest endeavours, achievements and accomplishments. She was immensely proud of you all!
She WOWED us with her Geneology skills - a treasure trove of history!
Betty was the greatest life teacher! Every visit concluded with big hugs and a laugh. After losing people we both knew and reminiscing Betty would exclaim "That really sucks!". You are so right Betty!
Love, Patti, Charlie & Georgia

My sincere sympathy to the Wright family.
Betty was a beautiful lady. Always with a smile a kind word and a spring in her step!
She would brighten a room with her presence.
Betty & Cliff hold a special place in my heart, two beautiful souls that were 100% genuine full of love and caring for everyone they knew.
I enjoyed going to work everyday (it didn't feel like a job because the Wright family treated us like an extension of their family, and what an honor and treasure to be treated as such) & looked forward to seeing Betty pop in to drop off mail, and say hello.
In my thoughts & prayers

My enduring memory of your Mom will be her passion for crossword puzzles. She loved her crosswords: daily or weekly, big or small, complex or simple. She was, quite simply, the Guardian of crosswords at The Star-Phoenix. If there was a mistake in puzzle boxes or clues, Betty was always the first to call – in the most remarkably pleasant tone an editor ever received. One Christmas, Nancy and I were at the Wrights. Betty brought out the huge, two-page puzzle which the Globe published every December. There was a problem. The page on which the crossword appeared was wrinkled by the press, obscuring several clues. Could I do something about that? Trying to get me out of this hot water, Nancy noted the Globe and Mail and The Star-Phoenix had two different owners. Betty responded that she knew that. My instructions, although unspoken, were clear: I beat it back to the office and phoned Roy Megarry, then the Globe’s publisher, who arranged for delivery of a fresh crossword. Such was the influence of Saskatoon’s Grande Lady of Crosswords!

I knew Betty as a customer at Safeway. I started at that store in 1981 and met her soon after. I worked in the parcel pickup area and put her groceries into her car. She was always kind, considerate and helpful even though I was helping her! Such a special lady. May your cherished memories comfort you at this sad time.

I want to offer sincere condolences to the Wright family on the passing of Betty. I met Betty when we were both working on genealogy and found her to be as wonderful as you know she was. I loved visits with her and missed her when she moved from the north end condo. I will think of her often as the stars shine, knowing that she is shining down on us with love and concern.

BB will always be that spry, energetic woman who jumped out of her car before it had even seemed to come to a stop! That was the first time I’d met her - she was so full of life. I will forever miss that mischievous twinkle in her eyes and the kindness of her soul. She captured my heart and I am forever grateful to have had her in my life. I love you Beebster - one day we will do what we promised each other we would. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
