Obituary of Margaret Hase

Margaret Hase April 11, 1933 - Jan 30, 2016 With heavy hearts we mourn the sudden passing of our beloved Margaret. She was so many things to so many people: wife, sister, aunt, friend, buddy, mentor. Margaret leaves behind sisters Elizabeth (Pete) Feschuk and Evelyn Patlok. She is predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Herb, parents Andrew and Regina Patlok, sisters Regina (Bill) Hryhor, Louise (Charles) Richter, and Lillian (Stan) Beerling, brothers John Salaye and Andy (Patsy) Patlok, numerous nieces and nephews, and special canine friend, Sparky. Margaret grew up in Weirdale, Saskatchewan, and moved to Saskatoon as a young woman and joined the furrier business. She had great style, a sense of propriety and consideration for others, and carried herself with grace in everything she did. In 1973, she married the love of her life, Herb, and together they built a successful auto-body business, Autocolor, affectionately known as “the Shop”in private conversations. They were a formidable team; when the opportunity arose they subsequently built and sold a successful lube/carwash business. They spent many hours planning the next step in their business; discussions at dinner often turned to ideas for the Shop. When Herb passed away in 1999, Margaret continued to run the business until retiring at the age of 74. Life was not all about business however, as Herb and Marg took time out to enjoy life too, travelling to view the fall colours in Quebec, and heading down to their condo in Lake Havasu, Arizona, to escape the harsh Saskatchewan winters. Summers in Saskatoon were centred around family, friends, and the BBQ, where Margaret enjoyed a well-done steak (first one onto the grill, last one off!) and friendly games of 31. Margaret was a consummate Scrabble enthusiast, with games often lasting well into the night (until she won!). Of course, she knew all the 2-letter words and Q-words without a “u”! Margaret was always gracious, and relied on her sense of humour to see through the worst of situations. Everyone whose life was touched by Margaret’s presence is richer because of the person she was, and we will treasure forever the many things that she did for us without reserve that made knowing her a privilege. She will be sadly missed.
