Obituary of Wayne Moser

JOHN WAYNE MOSER

January 18, 1956 – March 30, 2023

Goodbye Wayne.   You were an amazing husband and father.   We will miss you and cherish our memories of you.

Wayne was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm at Brock.   His passion for motorcycles started at the age of thirteen when Devry taught him to ride.   The first time he gave Janet a ride she thought she would blow off the back, but that was just his way to make sure she held him tight.

Wayne was an excellent mechanic employed at Jubilee Ford for most of his working years.   Even when he was forced to quit fixing cars the company created a desk job for him, so he could continue to work.   Thank you Vaughn Wyant for that and for making Wayne an honorary staff member for life when he had to quit working altogether in 2003.

It was at a Jubilee Ford mechanics’ Christmas party where Wayne met Janet on December 18, 1981.   A year later to the day, they were married.

The summer of 1985 was a very special one for Wayne and Janet.   They travelled across Canada by motorcycle camping along the way.   For them, it was an adventure of a lifetime.

The next adventure for Wayne was fatherhood.   Jordan and Braden grew up watching their Dad face everything MS threw at him with grace and dignity.   He was so accepting of his illness and was determined to live the best life possible.  

At the age of 49 Wayne began attending the Day Program at Sherbrooke Community Centre where he made many wonderful friends over the years that included attendees of the program and staff.   He became a resident of Sherbrooke in 2017.

Wayne’s patience and persistence allowed him to become somewhat of a computer expert at this time in his life.   He was happy to help out Sherbrooke staff by making memorial videos for Remembrance Day and retirement parties.   He put songs on iPods for residents and dubbed home movies from tapes to DVDs or hard drives for staff and friends.   His work ethic never wavered.   If there was a job to do he worked at it until it was done even if the staff said there was no rush.

During their daily visits, Janet and Wayne would play games with Jordan sometimes joining in.   Crib was Wayne’s favourite and he was consistently the winner.

Wayne was very happy to know Braden has found a lovely life partner in Rie Otsuka of Tsukuba, Japan.   The Saskatoon Mosers finally got to meet her when Braden and Rie were home for a week in September 2022.   

For twenty-five years Wayne lived a life well led with MS until it got to be too difficult.   He expressed his wish to have “this MS journey over.”   MAID helped him take his next journey which he described as a mystery.

Wayne was predeceased by his Mom and Dad, Edwin and Margaret, brothers Ronnie and Robert and sister Donna as well as his in-law parents Donna and Harry Metzler.   He is survived by his siblings’ partners, their children and grandchildren as well as Janet’s brothers and their families.

Janet, Jordan and Braden would like to thank the exceptional staff at Sherbrooke Community Centre for their excellent care of Wayne throughout his years in the Day Program and then his residency.   So many wonderful staff went above and beyond over and over again to meet his needs.   You will always hold a warm place in our hearts.   For those who would like to do so, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted at the Sherbrooke Foundation, 401 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7H 2E7

Interment will take place at a later date in the family plot at Brock.
