It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Valter Michele Baldasso. After a lengthy battle with cancer he died peacefully in the arms of his wife, and surrounded by loved ones on February 14th, 2023.
He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Septemeber 23rd, 1959. He was the son of Norina Baldasso, and the late Claudio Baldasso. He was the brother of Ester (Luigi), Norma (Mike), Claudia (Raymond) and Paulo.
He is survived by his wife Fondel Baldasso; Mother-in-Law Madelyn Haughian; his children; Shannon Baldassso (David), Alicia Baldasso, Tamikea Baldasso; step children Megan (Martin), Logan (Shayla) and 6 beautiful grandchildren. He was loved by many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins; including special friend Jesse Mann, whom Valter loved like his own son.
Valter started working as an ironworker in Nova Scotia. His career eventually lead him to Saskatoon, where he met his wife at Eagle Creek during a music festival. Valter fell in love with Saskatchewan, and he made it his forever home. Valter liked to keep busy. He was always tinkering with something, and enjoyed working on vehicles. To say Valter enjoyed hunting is truly an understament. He would go hunting; then after hunting, there would always be more hunting. Weekends were spent with his family camping at the lake, where many hours were spent fishing.
Valter always looked forward to spending time with his daughter Tamikea, every year during the holidays. Family gatherings meant Valter would be busy in the kitchen cooking delicious meals.
A special thank you to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul’s Hospital for the care and compassion he received. Valter, you are loved; never forgotten and forever missed.
The angels wrapped their wings around you as you were carried into the arms of Jesus. You are our angel now.
The funeral service will be held at 11am, Monday, February 20th at the Saskatoon Funeral Home.
