Obituary of Rose Hurlburt
ROSE HURLBURT
August 12, 1924 – January 27, 2023
Sadly, the family of Rose Hurlburt announces her sudden passing on January 27, 2023 at the age of 98.
Gigi recently told her great-granddaughter, Sophie, that she hoped to make it to be over 100. We all regret that she didn’t.
Rose was born in Moose Jaw to Harold and Dorothy King and spent most of her younger life living on Skipton Road in Moose Jaw. She had five sisters: May, Bert, Elaine, Irene, and Toby and three brothers: Walt, Harold, and Norman.
Rose was predeceased by her husband of over 70 years, Leslie, and her grandson, Marcus, as well as brothers and sisters on both sides of the family. She is survived by her son, Robert (Margaret Campbell), daughter Leeanne, granddaughter Reave (Adam), great-grandchildren, Sophie and Kael, sister Elaine and brother Norman, as well as nieces and nephews and special friend Bernie. She loved her family dearly.
Rose lived and worked for most of her life in Moose Jaw but moved to Saskatoon after Les passed away in 2014. She was adamant about having a dog, and Hugs, the Morkie, became an important part of her life. She always loved all the other family companion animals, too, and was “Grandma Rose” to them. Rose also took pleasure in shopping and bargain hunting for stylish clothing.
Rose was vocal in her opinions and was not willing to give in to the obstacles that faced her as a senior. We all knew what those issues were!
A private family interment will take place at the Caron Cemetery at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw, SK, S6H 7K7 or the Saskatoon SPCA, 5028 Clarence Ave. S., Grasswood, SK, S7T 1A7.
