Obituary of Wayne Sembalerus
It is with great sadness we announce that Wayne Sembalerus passed away suddenly, surrounded by his family, at 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the age of 54. He will be sadly missed and remembered by his wife Cory; daughters Jill and Audrey; and son Adam. Wayne is survived by his six siblings Ann, David (Jodi), Joanne (Lionel), Marie (Dean), Dianne (Ken) and Peter (Shaunda); his in-laws Don and Merle Lucas, Mark (Lise), Kim (Gary) and Jennifer; as well as many nieces and nephews. Wayne was born to Emily and Peter Sembalerus in Saskatoon, SK. He attended St. Gerard Elementary School and E.D. Feehan High School, where he graduated in 1979. He went on to obtain his Journeyman Carpenter’s Certificate in 1985, following in his father’s footsteps. Wayne became well known in the trades community having worked in construction his entire career, most of which as a general contractor for his own company Wayco Construction. He also received recognition from the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship board for his work with them. Wayne was incredibly supportive and always there for anything you needed. He was generous with his skills and his time, always willing to teach and help others or to fix their mistakes. He was very quick to laugh and had a unique sense of humor. He encouraged his children to play sports and to excel at everything they chose to do. Wayne was involved with Going Yard Baseball Warehouse, where he donated his time installing and repairing equipment, aiding in the development of young athletes. He will be remembered by the sports community for spending many years coaching baseball and soccer. He had a way of turning any home into a coffee shop. Wayne loved spending time with his family and refurbishing his cabin at Turtle Lake, which he had just completed and was looking forward to enjoying for many years. Wayne had a big heart and a bigger laugh, a passion for woodworking, fishing, peanut butter and for creating ridiculous nicknames. He will be greatly missed at the ball diamonds, the hockey rinks, and within the construction community. He gave 110% to his family, friends, and to the things he loved. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wayne’s name to Sport Legacy Fund c/o Sask Baseball 1902 Alberta Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1R9.
