I still remember playing "What's that Smashing Pumpkins lyric" with Mark. He always picked the most obscure lyrics and stumped me every time. Sending my love and thoughts to your family.

My fondest memory of Mark was when he and I were on the phone. He was playing his electric guitar and asked if I had a request. Naturally, I said “Alive” by Pearl Jam. I remember being blown away by his talent when he did an impromptu guitar solo while playing the song. I just sat and listened through the phone thinking, “How can someone just make up a solo that flows so naturally to the song”? I think he was only 16 or 17. Mark had pure, raw talent for music.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Mark's passing. He and I worked in separate areas while at Maguire's Irish Pub back in the day.
Mark was a good, pure soul; I remember him always smiling, pleasent, and excitedly bobbing his head during conversations. He used to keep me company while I did my cashouts (either before or after his kitchen shift); and enthusiastically tell me of song he'd been writing and then "perform" it on air-guitar. For this reason, I nicknamed him "Homestar Runner," after a character on the website who frequently sang similar guitar rifts. I often drove him home at night when he lived with his dad and sometimes we hung out after work. I even rehomed a bunch of my old Nirvana merch to him, which he happily accepted. So many fond memories of conversations with Mark, cheering on his band during Battle of the Bands, and visting him at Boston Pizza after he moved on from Maguire's. Although we eventually lost touch, I often wondered what he'd gotten up to over the years
The world feels less shiny knowing that he is no longer with us.. My deepest condolences to his daughter, his family, and his friends. The good ones leave much too soon.

I remember Mark from elementary and high school. He was playful and shy at the same time - such a genuine person to be around. I can still hear his voice and see his smile after all these years.
Sending love and light to Mark’s daughter and family. He will be dearly missed.

I remember Mark, from Lakeview school, having a friendly, warm smile and being so kind. He had a very captive audience whenever he brought his guitar to school and he would play requests for us. We were so impressed a classmate was so talented! Sending his daughter and family condolences. He was a lovely person.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Mark’s passing. I taught him guitar for a number of years when he was a young lad and he had a natural aptitude for music. Mark performed at our recitals and after he grew up, played a gig with us at McNally and we had a lot of fun musically. Even though I haven’t seen him in years, he has a special place in my heart and I’ll miss him dearly. My condolences to the family.

I remember Mark in highschool speaking on the topic of how sound waves are created in physics class and using his guitar to demonstrate. I remember that Mark always asked thought provoking questions and noticed the small details in life that some of us may not see.
Although we did not mantain our friendship as time progressed I'm certain that he was a wonderful father and my deepest sympathies go out to his daughter, family and friends.

I remember jamming in Lakeview Elementary School's band room before class when I think of Mark.
Madame Frass used to let a few of us in early. Including many Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins cover songs, we laughed and talked.
To have met him was such a blessing, and I feel so fortunate to have known him.
To Mark's family, my heart breaks with yours. Mark mattered, and he will never be forgotten.
May you rest in peace, my friend

Sending love & prayers to all Mark’s family. My fondest memory of Mark is him as an 8 month old baby who flew with his mama from Saskatoon to Abbotsford experiencing a long unscheduled delay in Calgary yet he arrived with the biggest smile and happy personality after such a long journey.

Mark was complicated. Fiercely intelligent, funny, loyal, thoughtful and brutally honest. You knew he liked you if he was trying to push your buttons. He was an extremely intuitive musician with good taste and great tone. He believed in me as a musician when it sometimes felt like no one else did. He always pushed me to be better. I will miss him.
