I remember when as a child I met my older cousin Tony, I was struck for the first time by the notion that growing into adulthood could be a grand adventure. He was gentle and kind, curious and fun, and very, very smart. He was a person who lived life fully. Years later when I visited Tony and Sandy, my early impression still held. It felt inspiring to be in the home of a life-long learner. Watching the live stream while sitting in my far away flat in London, England, was so moving. Everyone who spoke confirmed what I had experienced in the handful of times Tony and I met. I'm very grateful to Tony's wonderful family and friends for sharing their sad yet beautiful day over such a great distance.
With all love,
Barbara Barnes

My condolences to Mr. Allen’s family and friends.
I was blessed to have him as my grade 7 teacher. I will never forget his generosity in taking me and some other classmates on a plane ride in what seemed like a very small plane. The first real feeling of flying! He also pioneered the concept of playing music while exercising. Way ahead of his time!
I was able to see and hear him play bass at a reunion a number of years ago and reconnected briefly.
I hope the family will appreciate the positive impact as a teacher he had on me and I’m sure many others.

My first acquaintance with Tony was around 1965. Tony and a girl were making out in the front seat of his car at the Eighth Street A&W. My friend (a radio ham as well) spotted him and honked "Dah di-di-dit, dah-di-dah" with the horn [Morse code for “BREAK”]. The shocked look was Tony wondering where the message came from.
In the following years, we both worked at Sea-Juice (CJUS-FM), the university radio station. My musical training was classical, so I was fortunate to host classical shows. Tony's nickname for me was "Mazurka Bandurka" because I chose Chopin whenever possible (actually it was because the CJUS record library was somewhat limited.)
Other life parallels include travel (mine was after university, his was before); we both owned small airplanes (me a Cessna 150; Tony a Cessna 120); both planes were destroyed by wind storms, but in different years; and we both taught science and computers.
Condolences from myself and my wife to your family. Вічная пам'ять.

Our sincere sympathies to you, Sandra, and to your family. I worked closely with Tony for several years in the computer world. He was very professional in all his dealings and truly believed that technological
problems could be solved and set about to do just that.He certainly was ahead of his time in exploring how technology could assist learning. I spent several enjoyable lunch hour walks birdwatching with Tony. He was a good friend. Leverne and I have good memories of many interactions over the years with both you and Tony including some ski trips. Those were the days!

I knew Tory on many levels — through Sandy, as a computer consultant with the public school system, the Saskatoon Community Bands, the Saskatoon Jazz Society, the Jazz Festival and he was responsible for directing me towards volunteering at CFCR, Saskatoon’s Community Radio Station. Tony’s life touched countless people in countless ways. I even remember asking him a couple of birding questions along the way! My condolences to Sandy, Jay and the rest of his family.

It will be easy to remember Tony with respect and fondness. He was my teacher at Nutana. He also taught my brother at Thornton and was kind enough to be at the school outside of class hours so I could coach the boys’ basketball team as no coach was available. Later, I had the good fortune to become Tony’s colleague when we both worked for Saskatoon Public Schools. Tony’s brilliant mind enabled him to give students top-notch instruction which I am sure gave many students the confidence to pursue careers they might otherwise have felt were inaccessible. His devotion to his family was always evident. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones.

I knew Tony as a teacher, a student, and as a musician. I first met him in his work as computer consultant. His knowledge, ability to communicate, and sense of humour helped me to set my course in working with technology in my schools. Tony was a student of mine of upright bass. he approached learning this instrument with commitment, dedication, hard work, and a great sense of fun. He really enjoyed learning! I will miss his gentle spirit and calm, positive manner.
