I’ll never forget the day that the whole church came together to build me a garage as pastor of the Radisson congregation. I had done a little bit of surveying in my life and so I was running the gun and Edwin was running the tractor bringing gravel and putting it in place in preparation for the concrete pad. Well it wasn’t very long before I messed up and had him dump. Two loads of gravel in the same spot. Art Meister, who lived next-door and was our congregational president had quite the temper. And when he got mad, his voice got very high. And so with a very high voice, he walked over to me and said quotes Pastor, Edwin knows what he’s doing and has done this many times, but you don’t so you go over to the church and work on your sermon and we will build you a garage now off you go, and with my tail between my legs I walked over to the church and went into my office and worked on my sermon. in my life I have known two families who I thought were nuts for the hours they worked. These two families worked harder than anyone I’ve ever known and as a result were very successful and of course I’m talking about Edwin and a man who was like a dad to me in Dickson. I remember when I first met Miriam , I think if I remember right, she was doing nine sets of books for nine different organizations and she was the parish president and the president of our congregation. And I very soon learned that if I needed anything done in the church all I needed to do was get Edwin or Miriam and the job was done faster and better than I could ever have imagined. I love them both very much and I’m so sorry that Miriam has lost her Edwin. I don’t know what their private lives were like, but from what I saw they had something very special, so love you lots Miriam and Edwin we will see you soon.
