Obituary of Doris Harelkin

It is with sadness we announce our mom, Doris Harelkin, has passed away on November 18, 2022 at the age of 94. Left behind to celebrate her life are her three children, Debbie (Rene), Pam (Dwayne) and Albert (Tami); five grandchildren, Deana (Allan), Chad (Savanna) and Jerid, and Tanner and Mikaela; four great-grandchildren, Haley and Alexis, and Mackenzie and Liam; her sister, Violet; and brother-in-law, Pete Negrey. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Alex; son, Danny; and grandson, Jeffrey. Our mom was wonderful. Not only was she a mom and a baba, she was a sister, an aunt, a farmer’s wife, a homemaker, a baker, a gardener, a neighbour, and a friend to name a few. After moving to town from the farm, there was a change, her garden got smaller and her social life got bigger. She enjoyed going to the museum for both coffee and other socials, playing cards with neighbours, going to bingo, and going to the casino. She enjoyed volunteering at the museum bake sales and fundraisers, selling food at ballgames, baking bread and baking pyrohi for bake sales. She was a fan of garage sales, bringing home extra goodies for herself and if asked, she would look for specific goodies for us, which I think she enjoyed more. After dad passed away in 1998 there was another change, she got a puppy, which she named Willy, and not only did he become her new best friend, Willy also became great friends with mom’s card playing friends. Mom did very well on her own until dementia started to take her away. Eventually it took her away before today. We love you our mom, our baba. We will remember you.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home.
