We met Harvey and Grace when Doug was the minister at the a Presbyterian Church in North Battleford. They often had us out to their beautiful home and garden in the country. We have kept contact over the years. He was also our dentist. I remember when our 12 year old got a tooth knocked out on a neighborhood hockey rink. I was crying and going on about it being an adult tooth. Harvey just calmly said Mom I think it best if you leave the room. Clearly I wasn’t calming my son. Harvey was. They were both kind, inclusive and generous people. Together again.

We are thinking of all the family and friends of Harvey. We will all miss his great interest in everyone and the world around him. This message is from Wilbur ( Bill) Wilson who was a classmate at Luther College Regina High School Class of 1954. Those years in the dorm and in study were very special and resulted in lifelong friendships. Harvey came to school class reunions. We enjoyed our last visit with Harvey when he travelled a few hours to our farm south of Mccord, Sk.. Memories of Harvey will be cherished Wilbur and Audrey Wilson

Our deepest sympathy to the Sauder family.
Dr. Sauder (as I remember him) was a wonderful person.
He was the best dentist we had. You didn’t even know he was working or looking in your mouth.

Harvey and his wife Grace came to Global Gathering Place (GGP) as volunteers over twenty years ago.
They opened their hearts and home to our cause, hosting warm celebrations for our refugee and immigrant clients. The connections they made at these gatherings led to lifelong mentorships and genuine friendships. After Grace passed away in 2009, Harvey continued to faithfully attend our weekly Coffee and Conversation program. Every week, he shared laughs and life experiences with our newcomer clients. He was known in our office as a very kind, thoughtful, and cheerful man who formed close bonds with many isolated newcomers over the decades.
In recent years, he stayed connected with our organization as a loyal member and donor. The emails he sent with silly jokes or clever puzzles never failed to brighten our busy workdays.
Our sincere condolences to Harvey's family. He will be very fondly remembered by many staff, volunteers, and clients at GGP.

I am so sorry to hear of his passing, but glad to know he wasn't suffering for years. He and Grace gave so much to Global Gathering Place. He was kept busy in recent years sending jokes and articles on email. For his work life and volunteer life, we give thanks.
