Obituary of Lucy Williams
Lucy Williams (Gardiner)
Lucy passed away peacefully on January 30, 2015 at Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre at the age of 97 years. Lucy is survived by her daughter Mary, granddaughter Tammie (Rico) and greatgrandson, Bram; daughter Joyce (Jim) and granddaughter Mandy, one sister-in-law, Yvonne Gardiner, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Wilbur and Mary Gardiner, her husband, Owen Gwynedd Williams, her son-in-law, William Peacock, her three brothers, William, Robert (Maren) and Richard Gardiner; nephew, Edward Gardiner and niece, Bonnie Ryan. Lucy was born at Millerdale, SK on November 22, 1918. They soon moved to where she grew up on her parents’ farm at Oakwood. She married Gwyn Williams in 1946 and lived many years on the family farm near Broadacres. In 1974 she and Gwyn moved to Kerrobert and had many happy years of retirement especially enjoying the time spent at the seniors’ centre. Gwyn passed away in 1992 and Lucy moved to Saskatoon in 2002 to live closer to her daughters. Lucy was a very social person and her greatest enjoyment was spent visiting and laughing and telling stories with friends and family, either in person or many hours spent on the phone. She always said she was a people person. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Amy McClure House and Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre for the care and compassion shown to Lucy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
