Our heartfelt condolences are extended to every member of Uncle Art’s family. Laurie, Curtis, Jeff and all your children, you were all so blessed to have had a lifetime of adventures with Uncle Art. Kathy and I enjoyed many fun filled times with him and Aunt Judy. They were so much fun, so cute together, and Art was always willing to debate, discuss, and cajole with us. We loved them both so much and will always cherish our fond memories of those times. All our love and prayers, Cliff and Kathy Rybchinski

My condolences to Mr. Shepherd's family. I am sorry to read about his passing. Mr. Shepherd was my first principal when I attended Silverwood Heights elementary school, from 1989-1993. I can very clearly remember waking into my new school in kindergarten to be greeted and hugged by this wonderful, jolly man. He was always giving out hugs and genuinely cared for his students. My favorite memory of Mr Shepherd is from when I was in Mrs Hanlin's grade 2 class. She was reading the class a Clifford book, when there was a knock at the door. There was Mr Shepherd, dressed as Clifford the big red dog, holding cookies shaped like dog bones. That memory has stuck with me all these years, and my children are now convinced that I have met Clifford because I've told the story so many times.
To the family: may you hold on to and treasure all your memories with this special man. He touched the lives of many children - thank you for sharing him with so many.

Our sincere condolences to the Shepherd Family. We went to Bedford with Art and Judy and about 8 years ago four couples from Bedford who had started dating in highschool, then married, made a trip to Vegas to celebrate 50 years of being married to highschool sweethearts. We had a great time. Memories will never be forgotten.

My condolences to all of Mr. Shepherd's family, former colleagues, and students - I was lucky enough to have him as a principal at Henry Kelsey back in the mid 70's. I recall being in Grade 1 and winning the inaugural "Rubber Ducky Award" - which, if memory serves, was for being friendly and courteous. I was only in Grade 1, but he lifted me up on-stage at a Friday assembly, and told me to squeeze the duck to make it quack - and I couldn't squeeze it hard enough (everyone laughed), and he helped me! Such a kind principal, and obviously will be very missed by many.

I was sorry to hear of Art's passing. I served as Art's vice principal at Confederation Park School. He was an amazing mentor to me and an outstanding educator and leader. I have often reflected on how many lessons he taught me during that year-lessons I have gratefully shared with others. My last conversation with Art was about a month ago. I had a chance to thank him once again for his wise advice and for his ongoing support and encouragement. He provided me with a laugh or two and an update on his family. He was so proud of them all. My heartfelt condolences to Lauree, Curtis, Jeff and their families. He will be missed.

I was so sorry to learn earlier today of Art’s passing. Over the past couple of years, I enjoyed our periodic chats here at Primrose Chateau where I was Art’s next-door neighbor. My sympathies go out to all members of his extended family. May he rest in peace. Sincerely, Bob Hutcheon

I am so sorry to hear of Art's passing. My condolences to Lauree, Jeff & Curtis and their families at this sad and difficult time.
I had the great honor of starting my career at Henry Kelsey School with Art as the principal. He was a well loved leader with a great sense of humor and always a sparkle of devil in his eyes. He paved the way for many of us to follow as school leaders. I thank him for that. He will be missed.

My fondest memory of Mr Shepherd (and there were many) is of him singing “Rubber Ducky” at assemblies with his toy rubber ducky. Rubber Ducky has become my ‘clean up song’ in my classroom and every time I sing it I think of your dad.

One of my fondest memories of Art was sitting on the end of the dock, early in the morning, telling Dane and Daryl, "Snot Sucking Sam" and "Farting Fanny" stories.
I am sure Art would have appriciated some alone time after a busy school week, but he took the time to be a role model to my chidren, who otherwise didn't have a grandfather figure in their lives.
I speak for all the Hiebert's when I say Art will be sorely missed but not forgotten. In fact I think of Art and Judy everytime I look up the hill.
I remind myself that the more loss we feel the more grateful we should be for what we had to lose.

My deepest condolences to the Shepherd family on the sad loss of a special man. Art was my grade seven and eight teacher at Mayfair School. I was part of the graduating class of 1967. I thought about this wonderful man many times over the years and am so grateful that I was able to speak to him in 2020 and to thank him for being such a remarkable teacher. We were tough on Art at times however, his incredible patience, dedication to youth and his never ending fairness no doubt, touched the lives of many of his students for years to come. His generous spirit and love of teaching inspired me to become a teacher. I will always remember Art, for his engaging smile and his dedication to helping young people to realize their self-worth.
