It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend – Iris Darcy McPherson (nee Michalenko).

Iris grew up on the Michalenko farm amongst 11 brothers and sisters in Hafford, Saskatchewan but at 15, love picked her up and moved her to Borden where she spent the majority of her adult life. She married the love of her life, Johnny McPherson, on May 6, 1960 and together, along with tending to a busy farm, they raised four strong, compassionate, (and boisterous!) children. When Johnny passed in 1980, Iris, the Matriarch that she was, was left to contend with the farm and her expanding family. Taking care of the land was just too much without Johnny by her side so she moved her home to Saskatoon where she remained until her passing. She realized farmer vision would not get her the curling games she desired and the episodes of Coronation Street that she lived for. Anyone who knew Iris loved her with their entire hearts, she was too perfect not to love. She was a pillar of strength and had a heart of gold – she was truly the rock of the family.

She will be deeply missed by her 4 children, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Children: Catherine (Danny), Douglas (Colleen), Diana (Randy), and Deborah (Shane). Grandchildren: Nicholas (Holly), Nadia (Tyler), Andrea (Kenneth), Sadie, Hunter, Adine (Wylie), Christopher (Brittany), Ivy (Jaden), Nelson, Simone and great-grandchildren: Olivia, Ella, Alora, Jake, Alexander, Scarlett, Kyla, Lexi, Harrison, and William. Her brothers, sisters, Johnny’s family, great nieces/nephews, and all other lives that she has touched over the years will feel a loss without her presence. She was predeceased by her husband Johnny in 1980.

Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30am on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Saskatoon Funeral Home Interment will be held privately at a later date.
