Obituary of Alma Jean Trotter

Jean passed away peacefully on January 25, 2016 at home. She was born on April 03, 1928 to Stewart and Jemima Robertson in Kipling, Sk. After graduating from Scott Collegiate and secretarial school, Jean worked for Prairie Farm Assistance in Regina. She married Robert Vernon Trotter on May 24, 1951. Jean, Vern and Margaret moved to Tisdale in January, 1955 to open Trotter's Drug Store. Greg completed the family and helped in the store until it closed in August, 1974. In 1976, Jean and Vern moved to Saskatoon. Jean began to work for Birks, a career that she loved until her retirement in 1993. Jean was an active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Churches in Tisdale and Saskatoon. She was involved with the Lion L's, Daughters of the Nile, and LOHR Industries. For 16 years, she was a volunteer at the Saskatoon City Hospital Gift Shop. Jean was a longtime supporter of the Salvation Army. Jean was predeceased by her husband and best friend Vern and her parents, Stewart and Jemima Robertson. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Dale Wenman, Regina, her son Greg, Saskatoon; her brother, Duncan (Phyllis) Robertson, St Albert; and several nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her extended family, including Jim and Fay Boxall and Grant and Karen Boxall and their families.

Funeral

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the Saskatoon Funeral Home with Reverend Annabelle Wallace officiating to be followed by a reception at the Edwards Family Centre. Interment will take place at the Columbarium at St. John's Cathedral at a separate private committal ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation (# 26 -1738 Quebec Ave. Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9) or to the Wa Wa Shrine Patient Transportation Fund (2065 Hamilton St. Regina, SK S4P 2E1).
