Dearest Karen, Nancy, and Brent--
Many years ago, I offered a gift certificate to a fundraiser of some kind. Mona was the winner of the gift certificate for a complimentary cut at style with myself at Salon Deja Vu. Little did I realize that I was the real winner here. Thank you for making it possible for me to view the celebration of her life-- a life fully lived. I see her in each of you-- her gifts of interesting gab, her voice, joi de vivre, quirks and traits, apparently right down to her elongated, knobbly toes!
Mona lit up the room! I too, was blessed with her huge hugs every few weeks for many years. She always complimented me on what I was able to do with her crazy locks of hair, and if it wasn't quite right, her hair was to blame. She, too, made me feel loved and adored and seen.
Mona invited me to her suite on Main St. a few years ago for a Thanksgiving feast. She prepared a lovely meal as 3 of us ate and drank and laughed the evening away. I knew so little of her long life, but the celebration and prize-worthy tributes by each of you certainly made sense of her beautiful, full life. You are all very gifted with her beautiful qualities that will live on for generations.
One thing that I don't believe was mentioned about Mona, and I feel the need to share is her volunteer work in teaching literacy to others. I believe Mona helped teach others to read in her last years, and possible did this right in her home. So many people retire and quit living life. But Mona always found a way to work in the service of others, and managed to play well along the way!
I feel so blessed to have known such a lovely human being. I miss our visits and hugs and stimulating conversation with hearty laughter. Mona was one of a kind. Thank you for sharing her with me. Cheers to my dear friend, Mona!

When in her presence there was laughter, curiosity about you and what you were doing, hugs and music. When we saw each other the conversation always started with “how is you?” With hands placed on your cheeks and a deep look in the eyes. She genuinely wanted to know and asked after everyone. The service was beautiful and captured her well. A memory of mine goes “Mona, why are you wearing those shoes? You need a new pair!” As she is sticking her finger through a hole in the side and laughing she says “I can fix these”. And she did.

Karen, Nancy, Brent and Families. Your Mom was truly a lifelong friend of mine. Having grown up in Tisdale, her Mom and Dad ,her sister and her were our neighbors. Not only neighbors but good friends. Whenever I saw your Mom she always met me with a big smile and one of her hugs. She was always interested in me, how my Mom was when she was still alive and how Margaret was. Truly a special person. Treasure your memories. Love from Greg Trotter.
PS. I was unable to get to her service due to health reasons, but watched it online. I laughed and cried. Wonderful tribute. Greg

Mona was such a great lady, great friend and long-time volunteer and leader during the early years of the Saskatoon Jazz Society, The Bassment and the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival. She served on the executive and as president of both the Society's and Festival's Boards for many years, but also was a tremendous ambassador in getting many others as actively involved back when everything we did was by volunteer efforts. A Festival Builder Award recipient herself, this photo below was taken with jazz pianist Chick Corea the year the award was presented to Elwood Flynn by Mona and myself. It was people like Mona who allowed us to accomplish so much for our jazz community of players and music lovers, and continues after so many years. I want to convey both my condolences to her family and many friends, and my own appreciation and thanks for all her support. - Jim Hill
