Obituary of Gerry Weigel

It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald (Gerry) Edward Weigel born on August 25, 1935 announce his sudden passing on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the age of 87.

Gerry was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth; sisters, Joyce, Marion, Evelyn, Audrey, and Sharon; and brothers, Keith, Elmer, Alan, Garry, and Larry.

Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, and best friend, Helga; his children, Lisa Geselbracht, Tracy White, Darren Weigel, Kimberly Thiessen, Crystal Hinz, and Dana Ross and respective spouses; his step-children, Patti Derksen, Rick Giesbrecht, and Cindy Giesbrecht-Gardash and their respective spouses; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Leland; plus many nieces and nephews.

Gerry was never one to sit still for very long and was often looking for something to do or fix.  He was always willing to lend a hand and enjoyed helping on the farm or building almost anything.  He enjoyed having a good time and liked to laugh and smile even if it was at his own expense.

Gerry was happiest spending time with his wife Helga and their dogs.  He loved spending time in the great outdoors with Helga, their families and/or friends going camping and fishing during summer or skiing and visiting in the winter months.

Gerry will be forever missed by all who knew him!

A Celebration of Life to be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at W.A. Edwards Family Centre (333 4th Ave. North, Saskatoon). Parking is available across the street at Saskatoon Funeral Home. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at House #9 Veterans Village at Sherbrooke Community Centre for all their care and compassion!

Interment will be a private gathering at a later date.
