Doris Mae Montalbetti
We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our mother of 97 years Doris Mae Montalbetti. She left us on the Thursday afternoon of September 22, 2022. We take joy that she will finally be with her beloved husband Ray and daughter Theresa.
She is survived by: her sons, Raymon and David; daughter-in-laws, AeRan and Fabia; grand children, Ileana, Stefan and J.J.; and great grand children, Gabriel and Sabrin.
Doris was born in New York, New York while her parents Willard and Laura Jardine were in a brief residence. She grew up in Ottawa, Ontario in a family of two brothers, Mel and Jim and three sisters Margaret, Betty and Shirley. In Ottawa she met her husband of 49 years beginning a partnership that led her to Champaign, Ill., Saskatoon, Churchill, Man., back to Ottawa and a final stay in Saskatoon. She unselfishly supported her husband in his post-graduate education, research work and university teaching.
Her love of family and service to others was inspirational. Throughout her life she volunteered for many organizations and groups such as Summer Orchestra Workshops, Saskatoon Symphony and University Hospital Gift shop to name only a few. She faced life with a huge pillar of faith reminding all of us we are here to serve.
She loved to attend her sons Music and Drama productions, and support her daughters music teaching and daycare endeavours. Birdwatching, knitting and baking were her passions. Oh those raisen pies! Friendship was an important part of her life. She maintained a strong connection with best childhood friends Shirley Anderson and Margaret Williamson driving the length and breadth of Canada.
Everyone she met throughout her life came away feeling better and even loved. She will be missed. You will always be in our hearts and guiding us to a better life.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Saskatoon Funeral Home - 338 4th Avenue North.
