Dear Val,
I attended Lew's funeral online. I was very moved by the ceremony. He was larger than life, generous beyond belief, and just a joy to be with. I loved the stories about how he sang songs to say thank-you.
I cannot imagine the journey you and your family have been on with caring for him through his illness and passing.
Walking with you in spirit,
Olive Yonge

Valerie, I've just finished watching the livestream of Lew's memorial service. We wanted to attend in person, but John is feeling unwell today and we thought it best to stay home.
What a wonderful, moving tribute! John and I knew Lew through his volunteer auctioning for Belgravia school fundraisers; we didn't have a close relationship with him, but he always greeted us as if we were old friends, which made us feel so welcome! Hearing about other aspects of his life, including his faith and his commitment to work and family was most heartening and inspiring. It's hard to put into words how deeply sorry we are about Lew's death, and we wish for your well-being and that of your family.
With love from Rita and John Murray and family

If I ever knew a true gentleman- it was my good friend Lew. Whenever I spent time with him, I felt his warmth and genuine caring. I am a better person for having known Lew as an example of what God would want us be like.
He and Val were in my mind a model couple and my heartfelt condolences go out to Val and the family.
Lew - you will be missed - but never forgotten!

Our deepest sympathies go to the Warke family during this difficult time. Lew & Valerie had blessed us with their presence at our wedding on September 15th of 2018, which we had the honor of listening to him sing beautifully at our ceremony with a live piano (see photo). Lew has always been a close friend to our family & will be deeply missed. I remember going to meetings with my dad as a kid to see Lew for lunch or a nice morning coffee, we will forever cherish those moments. We love you my friend, will see you soon.

In 1988 Lew visited Toronto to speak at a life underwriter's meeting. He spoke of his family, his love of cinnamon buns and that he had already experienced cancer. It is a talk that I have long remembered.
I wish his family well.
Sincerely,
John Bawden

It is really sad to hear of Lew’s passing. May he Rest In Peace. Condolences to Valerie and family from Winston and Nora in Toronto. Lew had always been a charming and friendly person whom we had the honor to know almost 30 years ago at the North American Life conference in Maui. Though we live in different provinces, we cherish our friendship through these years.

My wife Yvonne and I are sending deepest condolences to Valerie, Katie and the family on the passing of just one wonderful man. Lew was extraordinary as anyone who knew him is well aware. We were both life insurance agents and part of a group called The Executive Planning group with members from Vancouver, Edmonton, Montreal, Hamilton, and St. John's. We got to know one another's families and shared some very special moments often with Lew belting out his robust rendition of Oh Danny Boy to everyone's delight. Tonight, I shall perform that song in Lew's honour in a small outport community not far from my home in Spaniard's Bay Newfoundland Labrador, just the kind of thing he enjoyed. Valerie, we love you and our hearts are broken to know you are suffering the loss of the man whom you loved. May he Rest in Peace.

Speaking for Lewis's family on the other side of the pond in Ireland, it was a privilege to have met Lewis & Valarie on their visits to Ireland. He was a great friend of my mum and dad, and continued coming over to visit on many occasions even after their passing. I cherish the time we visited Edmonton, and we all feel a great loss in our lives. Enjoyed the days we shared on the golf course, and times shared with our families together.
Hollie will have to practice harder to match his mesmerising magic tricks.
Thinking of you Valarie, Katie, and the rest of the family at this most difficult time.
I remember the first day we met in our house like it was yesterday.

We always remembered Lew as one of the friendliest & kindest people at Manulife Conferences. Even when running into him at a Calgary playground with his grandchildren he made the time to ask how our family was. We never knew him well but felt every time we met him, he made us feel we were the only people on the earth. Very few people have this quality, and we will definitely miss him at future conferences as he always was a highlight of our trip.
