Dorothy was a sweet, special lady. I worked with her from 1994 to 1999 at Pleasant Hill School; my classroom was right above the kitchen and as I arrived very early to prepare for the day, I could smell Dorothy's wonderful breakfast cooking and would go down for a visit. She made the best toasted cheese sandwiches on brown bread! It soon became my job to pick up doughnuts and muffins for the children at Tim Horton's on my way to work. As I volunteered to do lunch duty in they gym, I had many wonderful lunches along with the children. Dorothy and I had a lot of laughs, as she had a great sense of humour! I last saw Dorothy at the Exhibition a couple of years ago, so I am so glad we were able to have a last visit. What a wonderful, special lady. May she rest in peace forever more.

Dear Kimberley and family, I want to add my sympathies on the passing of Dorothy. She was deeply committed to her community of Pleasant Hill especially the children. I was so impressed by her loyalty to the NDP and as the local MLA she often helped me, making sure I was at events and meeting people. She truly lived social justice!
Dorothy was indeed a very special woman and she will be deeply missed – please take care, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
