I grew up in Saskatoon on Idylwyld Crescent. I remember fondly walking to the Myers’ home with my friends to go swimming in their pool…what fun we had in those early days. Even then, Alan was so funny and fun! Neighborhood kids would gather on those hot Saskatoon summers at the pool. I even recall their dog, Jorry a singing beagle. We lost touch after high school, but those memories will last as long as I do. Fly free Alan.

So sorry to hear of Al's passing. He was my hockey coach for the miget Colonels in the late 1970's. He made a lot of memorable moments for the players. He had the best one liners and especially the ones that were directed at the referees. Later in life our paths crossed in the business world. He nerver hesitated in passing on much appreciated leads to me.
His humor and class will be with us for ever.

Rob, Curtis and Family, I was so sorry to have learned of Al's passing. "Big Al" really was larger than life. I always enjoyed running into Al around the Broadway area coffee shops and pausing for a quick chat.
In this very difficult time, I hope you find solace in your many great memories of Al.

Dear Rob & Curtie. Your parents and we have been neighbours for a long time. We have lived on St. Henry Ave for 50 years in the old Pendygrasse house. The original Pendygrasse house was at the end of our block and about 1980 gave way to several new homes built by Myers Construction. The finest became home to the Al & Cheryl Myers family. Our youngest son Leif was born about the same years as you two. I can still hear the three of you on bicycles nearly 40 years ago, riding down the walk, hollering at each other and having a good time.
Al and I had a visit in our back yard a where I had cornered a boxer that belonged to one of you and had gotten loose. My last visit with Al was earlier this year as he was planning to move one door south to “downsize”.
God bless his memory,
Obert & Connie Friggstad

Dear Rob, Curtis and family
We were very sad to learn of the death of your father, grandfather. AWTM was one of the last of the gentlemen of our baby boomer era. He will be missed by so many friends and relatives. I have great memories from Kinsmen of Al and his contributions. I especially recall his relationship with his friends at Kinsmen Elmwood Lodge. We spent many Friday noon lunches solving Kin problems and second guessing City Hall!
Please accept our sincere condolences.

A life well lived! So stated to me by Al recently. ‘I lived the way I wanted to, no regrets’. Selfishly, i believe he is gone too soon, and I would give anything for another Starbucks or round of golf with my friend, but it’s not to be.
Did you know Al? I did….but I also knew Alan, big Al, big A, Charlie, Steve, AWTM, and a few other nicknames I may have forgotten. All of these names were created by us to describe the same special guy but in different circumstances, showing a little bit of the impact he had on so many.
My mind today is a spinning kaleidoscope of memories of the past 20 years of my friendship with Al, who equally as godfather to my children, had such an important and life long beneficial impact on them.
So many laughs and stories and shared experiences….too many to recount.
RIP now Al, a rest well earned. Your legacy is secured and intact!
Sincere Condolences to all who loved him ….. and I want all to know that I count myself very much in that group!
