Obituary of Marion Snell

Marion Snell was born on October 21, 1919 in Moosomin, Saskatchewan to Jean and Roy MacDougall. Raised on the farm 10 miles from Wapella with her older brother Ian and younger sister Patricia. Marion loved her life on the farm and often talked about the family and community. She grew up in an home where people just dropped into to say hello and stayed for supper and she continued that tradition in her own home – where tea and cookies were a must the minute you walked through the door. After finishing grade 12 mom went to Regina and took a business course. She met her husband Bill in 1946 when she was a secretary to the Minister of Highways and Bill was an accountant for the government. They were married in 1947, Marilyn(Glen) was born in 1948, then came Bill’s curling team Rod(Barb) in 1951, Howard in 1954, Allan(Moni) in 1956, Jamie in 1959. Marion also had a special daughter in her life, Lorraine(Remi), who loved Mom and always was considered one of her children. Marion and Bill were married for 22 years when Bill passed away suddenly in 1969. Marion and Bill were being transferred with Bill’s job at the time of his death and she decided that she would live in Regina close to both her and Bill’s family. Being the strong lady she has always been, she stayed home for a year and then took a refresher course in business and started her career as supervisor of customs at Sears. Mom will always be remembered as a mom we could always go to for advice, and a hug and for her grandkids it was her hugs, unconditional love, homemade buns, cookies and always willing to listen. Mom was predeceased by her parents, sister, brother, daughter in-law Bijal, husband Bill and youngest son Jamie. She leaves a legacy of memories, good times and love. She will be remembered with love by her children, twelve grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
