Norma Radke

Norma M. (Miller) Radke passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.

She fought a hard battle with cancer, and she needed to rest. She made the decision with a clear head on her own terms. Our family takes great comfort in knowing she is now with loved ones who passed before including her beloved husband, Clillard.

Mom was born to Ross and Kate Miller on May 24, 1939.  Her birthplace is listed at a land location and she often joked that she was born on a fence post! She was the eldest of five and had lots of responsibilities as a young child. She attended Jordan River School and then went on to Rosthern Junior College.

After that, Mom worked her way through Marvel Beauty College to gain a hair dressing certificate.  She then went to Calgary for a job.  It was there she married and had her daughter, Cheryl.  That marriage did not work out so she moved back to Saskatchewan, and it was there she found the love of her life, Clillard.  They married soon after, and their little family settled in Saskatoon.  It was there their son, Darren, was born.  Norma worked for others until she could open her own beauty salon, Mona Lisa, with her sisters in law, Jackie and Marie.

Norma and Clillard went to the West Coast on many holidays, and shared a love of salmon fishing and the city of Victoria.

They also went to Las Vegas each January to escape some of Saskatchewan's winter.  Usually other family members travelled to the same places at the same time and it became a reunion of sorts.  Mom was a proud, hard working woman who was fiercely loyal to her family.  She loved to play canasta and board games and was VERY competitive.  She enjoyed gardening and her yard was always a showplace.  Norma loved Christmas and decorated their home meticulously for any holiday.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Cheryl (Wayne Harnett), son Darren (Amy), grandchildren Katrina Harnett (Ryan Turvey), Ross Radke and Marysa Radke, as well as two great grandchildren, Reese and Sydney Herbers. She is also survived by brothers Vern (Ev) Miller and Clarence Miller, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, sister Marjorie, and brother, Phillip.

The family wishes to thank SPH nurse, Candace, for her compassionate care. Thank you to MAID for making Mom's journey peaceful and dignified. Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
