Obituary of Jean Guenter

Dec. 26, 1937 – July 25, 2022

It is with sadness we announce the passing of our sister, Jean Guenter, at the age of 84 years.

Jean is survived by her brother Reg Pirie and sisters Norma McIntosh, Pat Bateman, and Beckie Harris. She was predeceased by her husband Peter in 2004, her son Don, and brother Bill.

After graduating from high school, Jean attended Robertson Secretarial School in Saskatoon. She worked outside the home all her life. Her husband Peter worked for Royal Trust and was transferred frequently. With each move, she always found employment in various accounting departments.

In high school, Jean developed an interest in curling. This interest, as well as an interest in hockey, continued all her life. While in Calgary, they had season tickets to the Flames. From a young age, Jean always had a dog. This meant that they did a lot of camping and trailering to accommodate the poodles. In her spare time, Jean also enjoyed quilting and sewing.

In September 2013, Jean sold her home and moved into Prairie Spring Care Home and, in 2016, because of further declining health moved to Extendicare Preston.

The family are grateful for the care and compassion she received at Extendicare these past few years.

Jean will be laid to rest beside her husband Peter at Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon.
