Rodney Donald (Rod) Lund
November 21, 1952 – July 12, 2022
It is with great sadness, that the family of Rod announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 47 years, Barbara; children Courtney (Tyler Weiland) Lund, Christopher (Nicole) Lund; grandchildren, Sophie, Drake, Olivia, Isla and Joel; brother, Richard (Gail) Lund, brother-in-law, Brian (Michelle) Stevenson, sisters-in-law, Heather (Don Summerskill) Stephens, Jo-Anne Haugen and many nieces and nephews.
Rod was predeceased by his parents Robert and Alice Lund, brother George, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Barry and Val Stevenson and granddaughter, Emma.
Rod was born in Saskatoon and grew up in Biggar, Sk. He began his working life in the floor covering industry, in Edmonton, Winnipeg and finally as a sales representative in Saskatchewan for Olympia Tile. After leaving Olympia, Rod worked as a warehouse manager for the Saskatoon Food Bank, maintenance for A&W and construction manager for Habitat for Humanity.
Rod was a dedicated volunteer, as a long-time member of the Bridge City Cosmopolitan Club, and board member of both the Saskatoon Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity. He also volunteered for many years with Christopher’s scouting group.
Rod enjoyed a number of leisure activities. He was an avid reader of fantasy and science fiction, even attending conventions and creating elaborate fiber glass costumes with his sister-in-law Heather. Rod enjoyed watching movies with his children, card games with friends and spending time at the lake with family and friends. Rod was a very social person. Even after suffering a stroke in 2014 and finding it difficult to talk, he enjoyed weekly group heart exercise, swimming and speech therapy programs. He also enjoyed attending Aphasia camp in Alberta.
Please join the family for the committal at 12:15 pm at Woodlawn Cemetery (gathering by the cemetery gates close to 33rd at 12:00 pm) followed by the Celebration of his life at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 22, 2022 at Saskatoon Funeral Home conducted by Helen Smith-McIntyre.
