Hello from Ontario, I am very sorry to hear of Colin's death. In 2017 we sat with Colin on a flight to London. We had a great chat on the plane as I am a member of St. George's of Forest Hill Anglican Church in Kitchener and we had some mutual friends in the Diocese of Huron. Mary Ann Millar

I have just learned of the sad passing of Rev Colin Clay. Colin served with my late father Syd Burrows in the Korean conflict during which they formed a life long friendship untill my father passed in 2000. Colin visited my father and his family in Liverpool England several times and my father visited Colin and his family in Saskatoon accompanied by myself and sister Denise(our mother having deceased three years earlier). I continued to keep in touch with Colin after my father's passing and am terribly sad to hear the news. My deepest sympathy to Colin's family and his wide circle of friends.

I met Colin as a Korean War veteran and Korean member. Through many encounters, I remember him as a very gentle, humorous person who leaves a lasting impression. With regret that we would have met more often, I would like to express my condolences to his family. Your participation in the Korean War will never be forgotten. Seokbum Ko

In the early years of producing the Canada Remembers Tribute in Saskatoon, Rev. Clay was across the table in several gatherings as we discussed the merit in in having what some described as war planes attending the Tribute to Veterans event. We always left shaking hands and recognizing there might be different perspectives on the community project. I had nothing but deep respect for Rev. Clay and continued to ask him to come and witness what we were doing at the Tribute; after the first visit Rev. Clay attended many times, even participating in delivering the pre-show blessing, being interviewed for the Canada Remembers documentary project -- or just laughing and sharing experiences with hundreds of other Veterans. His presence at the Nov. 11th Ceremonies at Saskatchewan Place were consistent and exemplary. I fondly recall casual conversations in the Legion or at the odd Korea Veterans Assoc. gathering of like minds. I am forever grateful for meeting this fine gentleman and for the time we had a chance to chat. God Speed.

I am truly grateful for the technology of today that allowed me the privilege of attending the farewell service for Rev. Clay. I am from Capreol and I remember well when the Clay Family came into my life. Gill and I have been friends ever since. Rev. Clay had a profound influence on my life. He was a teacher whose influence impacted many.Today’s service was a fitting tribute to a very remarkable man. To paraphrase the words of my daughter, Katharine in her poem entitled Mary Sue, ‘He will be remembered best by those who remember with their hearts.’ I will remember him.

There are no real words that can sum up the loss of such an amazing man. He was so very greatly loved, touched many many lives & will be remembered with great fondness by so many people too. What a truly wonderful life he led. I will always remember that little twinkle in his eye & his adorable laugh. He was the sweetest of men, with such a large heart. I truly believe that he is indeed enjoying the start of his next journey now. Oh how I cannot wait to hear, all the wonderful tales he will have to share with us, when we all eventually come to join him there. We are saddend that we were unable to be with you all today but please know that you are all in our hearts & minds during this difficult time. Great Uncle Colin, thank you for the wonderful example you set us all & for the positive difference you made to this world. We will miss you so very much & remember you forever. Much Love Always, Susie, Andy and Chloe-Marie xoXox

I knew Colin Clay first because he defended the Baha'i Faith in the 1980s against some people in Saskatoon concerned about it being a cult. He had written a book on cults and was widely respected as an authority so it was very gratifying that he stood publicly with the Baha'i's as a world religion. I later got to know him when he became president of Multi-Faith Saskatoon, which I had been previously, and he was always very supportive of minority faiths and religious pluralism while I served on the extended executive of the board during those 6 years. He was also on the board of Multi-Faith Saskatchewan. A very principled man, a strong advocate for peace and understanding between all, and a delightful and kind man to be around.

I am so very sorry to hear this news of Colin Clay as I live in Australia and Colin was/is a very close family friend to our family "The McLeod Family in Saskatoon. I travelled home 21yrs ago to be married by Rev Clay on the UofS campus.
My father Prof/Dr John McLeod (who we only lost a few yrs ourselves) had great admiration & respect for Colin Clay who married a few of us in the "McLeod clan" our family, Colin Clay helped us get through the huge loss of our family back in 1984, the passing of our mother Maureen Rickard McLeod. Though my mum was Catholic he presided during her service at her church along with her priest during this very sad time in our young lives. He was great support to my father who was supporting the 6 of us children some being just young adults & others still in high school or just leaving.
So I am very sad here in Australia....very sad indeed as I only just spoke about Rev Clay to my daughter discussing my marriage those many years ago, then only a few days I read the news of his passing a week later.
Your family words written just show he lives through you all....beautiful words indeed, thank you.
I love how he has left us all a message after he has passed, thank you so very much for sharing these words..amazing!.
These words will be kept close to me being the final thoughts of Colin Clay for us from a poem tucked into the pages of a recently arrived Reader's Digest, treasured words.... "I am with you still, do not weep. I am with you still, in each new dawn."
In another favourite verse from the poem Crossing the Bar, he writes: "May there be no sadness of farewell."
If I could speak to Colin Clay after reading such beautiful words, I would talk about when he writes:
"no sadness of farewell", I would say, that sadness can be tears and they are simply rivers of grief that in turn are also rivers of LOVE"
Thank Your for sharing Colin Clay with us, we need more humans like him & I am incredibly grateful to have had his influence in my life & in my family's life.
From here in Australia, I will be online for his farewell...Sending thoughts & love to you & to Colin Clay

Every now and then in life you meet someone who has a large impact on you. Colin was like that for us, meeting him only because of a marriage involving one of his grandchildren, Alison to Andrew, who now have a wonderful son, Colin.
So full of charm, stories, experiences and even a fable or two. Our favourite memory was of our visit to Saskatchewan in 2018. He had unfortunately taken I'll just prior to our visit. His plan was to show us the sights. While unable to do this himself, he enlisted his son Phil to do the deed. From a distance, in his hospital bed, we heard many a story about Saskatoon. So much man of compassion and joy.

Like many in Saskatoon, I have had the good fortune to know Colin Clay. He was always on the right side of history and he put his spiritual life into practice..
I think the first time I met Colin was, appropriately, at a public meeting in June 1987 to both commemorate and protest the 20th anniversary of the Israeli occupation of E. Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories.
Colin related how standing with the occupied against the occupier, with the oppressed against the oppressor, and with the weak against the strong was coherent with the prophetic teachings and ethical precepts underpinning the Abrahamic faiths as espoused in the Judeo-Christian-Muslim traditions respectively.
Colin was never afraid to speak truth to power.
May he rest well and may God be pleased with him.

On behalf of myself , my husband Dr Abdullah Patel and our children, we are heart broken to learn of Colin's passing and extend our sincere condolences to all who loved him. He was a beautiful soul, whose smile lit up the room. He was kind, compassionate and caring and all our interactions with him, usually in the multi faith sphere, always left us with a feeling of warmth. He will be missed.
May He rest in eternal peace and comfort. Much love

I was blessed to work alongside Colin when I was the Lutheran campus pastor at the University of Saskatchewan in the mid- 1980's. Among the many things we did together, the all-night study sessions we hosted for students during the exam periods stand out! My condolences to his wide circle of family and friends. He was an energetic and gifted person. May his memory be a blessing!

So sad to hear that Colin is no longer in this world, although we're all aware of the inevitability of death. Colin has been a steadfast soldier for peace, equality and justice throughout his time in Saskatoon. I got to know him while he was one of the spiritual leaders in the U of S campus. Throughout this period, his service was always for everyone, irrespective of their faiths and beliefs. Later, I became more and more aware of his broader commitment to peace and justice in our community. Personally, he was always a very kind person, respectful of other viewpoints and a ever-committed voice for social equality. May his examples continue to enlighten us all in this community! Peace.

Sincere condolences to you all. Colin and I worked together for many years at the Remembrance Day service at Sasktel Center. I enjoyed many conversations with Colin over the years. Our friendship goes back to the days of him being a guest on the John Gormley and Roy Norris talk shows on CKOM and CFQC. His work with parents of young people who were caught up in cults was always fascinating, informative and frightening.
I will miss his voice reading scripture to thousands of people every year as we honor those who served and sacrificed.
