Obituary of Karen Louise Kingsley

Karen Kingsley
1960 - 2022

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Karen Louise Kingsley (née Rask) announce her sudden passing on May 24, 2022 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. of heart failure.  She was an ever-young 61.   

Karen will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her siblings, Myrna (Richard) Weir, Brenda (Howard) Smith, Linda Zaparaniuk, Judy (Gary Servatius) Caplette, Brian (Lynn) Rask, Bonnie Rask, and Darrell Rask, brother-in-law Harold Hanson, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, friends, Sobey’s co-workers and customers.
 
She was predeceased by her parents (Swan and Ruth Rask), eldest sister (Sally Hanson), niece (Arlene Bischler) and nephew (Colin Smith). 
 
Karen started her life on the family farm in the Canwood district surrounded by aunts, uncles, and cousins, eventually celebrating her ninth birthday in Prince Albert after the family relocated.  A dedicated employee, Karen was gifted with the natural ability to really connect with people and applied her talents in the service industry her entire working career; first in P.A., then a few years in Norman Wells in the N.W.T., and eventually in Saskatoon.  She was recently recognized for her 20 years of service with Sobeys.
 
Though a very private person, Karen was known for her exuberant personality, sense of humor, and she made lasting friendships wherever she went.  She was also kind, thoughtful and always willing to help out others.  Her hobby was collecting artwork of wolves; possibly her spirit animal as they are known to be complex, highly intelligent animals who are caring, playful, and above all devoted to family.  Karen also loved to read though her favorite pastime was time spent visiting and laughing with family and friends.
   
A celebration of life will be held in September 2022.  A complete notice will appear with time and location in a later edition of the Star Phoenix.  In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in her name to the charity of your choice.
