Obituary of Marie Hartz
Marie Hartz was born in North Battleford on March 12, 1926 and died in Saskatoon on December 15, 2015. A proud Norwegian, Marie was determined to enjoy life to the fullest despite its tragedies and sorrows. She loved a get together with good laughs and loved nothing more than making plans for the next party, trying to get everyone along for the ride. Thank you to Marie's family, and friends that were like family, for 89 years of Christmas dinners, birthday parties, teddy bear picnics, and barbecues at the hut. Thank you to her travelling companions who took her from Whitehorse to Charlottetown. Thank you to the people who added their voices to Marie's in the many choirs she sang in. To her fellow Norwegians, she loved every minute of Folkfest, lefse bees, and dressing up in her bunad and dancing. To the members of Augustana Church and the spiritual community beyond, thank you for your fellowship in promoting God's will on earth through Jesus Christ. On behalf of her daughter Louise, thank you to all the family and friends who helped Marie during her short battle with cancer. To all those that sat with her, phoned and sent cards, brought flowers, music, and food, and kept us in your thoughts and prayers. And to Marie's doctors, nurses, members of Home Care, and the Palliative Care Unit, you are in a class of your own. Marie will be cremated and laid to rest beside her two sons, Terry and Karl, at Woodlawn Cemetery in the springtime. Marie's spirit will also be remembered on a sunny day this coming summer near the old homestead at Willow Heights.
