Obituary of Mary Schille
Mary Schille passed away peacefully on May 11, 2022, at the age of 88, with her family by her side. She was born to Michael & Antonia Dobransky on July 1, 1933, in Nipawin, SK. Mary attended high school in Nipawin and later graduated from Tisdale College, where she received her diploma in Stenography.
In 1953, Mary moved to Scott, SK where she started her job at the Scott Experimental Farm. Shortly after moving there, she met her future husband Roman Schille. They were married in 1956 and resided on the Schille family farm south of Scott, where they farmed for 29 years. In 1985, they retired and built a new home in Wilkie, SK.
Roman lost his battle to cancer in 1991. As a widow Mary enjoyed travelling and took many wonderful trips with family and friends. She especially enjoyed her gambling trips and always, “claimed to be a winner”. In 2013, Mary moved to Luther Riverside Terrace, in Saskatoon, SK. Here she enjoyed meeting new friends and the many fun activities they had to offer. Mary loved it when family came to visit her, especially when they would take her to the casino.
Mary was loved by all. She will forever be remembered for being kind, loving, and having a positive outlook on life. Mary had an incredible gift of listening and always put others before herself.
Mary is survived by her four children: Bryce (Patti) Schille, Debbie Shenner, Janice (Greg) Thompson, all of Red Deer, AB and Cheryl (Chris) Ackerman of Saskatoon, SK. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Christopher Schille, Melissa (Pari) Amburle, Travis (Victoria) Thompson, Nicole Thompson, Brooke Ackerman and her two great-grandsons, Lane Thompson and Prem Amburle. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband Roman Schille, in 1991, and her beautiful granddaughter Amanda Schille, in 2021.
A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the Roman Catholic Church in Wilkie, SK, at 11:00 a.m. Lunch and Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Opportunity Shop – YWCA, in Saskatoon, SK.
